On September 1, 2022, under the organization of the STEP Institute, the leaders and engineers of the company's R&D technology, process engineering, quality and other departments gathered together to participate in the two-day "DFM-Reliable Manufacturing Oriented" at the Meiyu Road Factory of Shanghai STEP Company Sexual Design" training.

 

 

With the continuous emergence of new projects and new technologies in the company, in the process of new product development and introduction, we often encounter the problem that the new product introduction process is not smooth and the development time is too long, which not only affects the delivery time, but also due to product and Poor process design leads to product quality problems, and a lot of troubles when mass production goes online. Therefore, how to shorten the development cycle, improve product design quality and product technology level, reduce design cost, and avoid batch quality problems has become a problem that must be faced in product development, and it is also a new topic that needs to be solved urgently in research and development work.

 

 

Before the training started, Mr. Qian Wei, assistant to the chairman of STEP Institute, introduced the meaning and purpose of the course to the trainees. He encouraged everyone to study DFM knowledge hard and apply manufacturing-oriented design concepts and methods to the company's project research and development.

 

 

After the training started, Mr. Huang Wei, the senior consultant of Zhiyuanyi Consulting, firstly introduced the definition of DFM - Design For Manufacturing. Then it explains in detail DFM and concurrent engineering, DFM and error-proof design, the design of tooling and fixtures in DFM projects, and the production process and logistics design in DFM projects. At the same time, it also introduces important management methods commonly used in projects such as DFM quality management, component material number BOM management, product data management, and project engineering change management .

 

Throughout the training process, Mr. Huang interspersed years of experience in factory management with cases, and his vivid explanations made it easy for the students to master the course. In class and spare time, Mr. Huang patiently and meticulously explained and interacted with the questions raised by the students.

The two-day training content is very rich. Through the study of this course, the trainees have broadened their thinking and cognition of product development. Further, from the perspective of product life cycle management PLM, understand and master the new product introduction (NPI), and the method and logical thinking of the reliability design for manufacturing (DFM) tool in project development, for the subsequent application in product development Laid a very good foundation.
