Partnering with Lighthouse Factories to Serve Global Manufacturing | STEP Delivers a Special Speech at the Foxconn Technology Exchange Conference

On the 19th, the “2022 Automation System Integration Application Technology Exchange Conference,” hosted by Foxconn Technology Group and organized by GaoGong Robotics, was held at Foxconn Longhua Factory—the Lighthouse Factory of Industry 4.0. The conference focused on specialized discussions centered on advanced robotic process technologies as well as applications in the 3C, smart logistics, and new energy markets. Cui Yongqiang, Director of the Robot Technology Development Department at STEP, delivered a keynote speech titled “SCARA Robots Empowering Precision Intelligent Manufacturing.”
In his speech, the leader of Foxconn’s procurement department stated that Foxconn’s transformation has already achieved initial success. In addition to the 3C industry, this year Foxconn has particularly developed a new energy vehicle-related business segment and has already established collaborations with several domestic and international companies. Given the limited availability of automation supplier resources and the incomplete nature of industrial chains in key international markets such as North America, Southeast Asia, and Europe, Foxconn hopes to join forces with more supplier partners to bring its products and technologies to the global market.
In his special address, Cui Yongqiang introduced how STEP Zhongweixing’s SCARA robots are leading industry trends, with continuous improvements in both their technological and application strategies, thereby comprehensively empowering Foxconn’s supply chain partners. He covered this topic from three perspectives: the company’s development journey, its core technologies, and its industry applications.
STEP Zhongweixing SCARA robots were officially launched in 2008. With the groundbreaking introduction of the industry’s first integrated robot drive technology in 2015, the company’s competitive moat was significantly strengthened, earning high recognition across the industry and maintaining a sustained lead in sales. In terms of product development, STEP Zhongweixing adheres to the core principle of “high precision, high speed, and ease of use.” Its AR (right-handed) and FR (left-handed) universal series, pioneered in the industry, continue to meet diverse application scenarios and remain popular to this day. Moreover, the newly launched PTR (screw-locking) and YR (heavy-load) series have gained widespread acclaim among users precisely because they closely align with real-world industry applications.

Cui Yongqiang stated that after 14 years of technological accumulation, STEP Zhongwei Xing has developed exceptional expertise in five key areas—controllers, robot bodies, algorithms, vision systems, and applications—in the SCARA robotics field.

In terms of industry applications, STEP Zhongweixing’s SCARA robots boast extensive application experience, serving over 3,000 customers worldwide. Currently, the company continues to deepen its presence in the 3C market—a sector characterized by strong brand advantages—while also maintaining steady growth in high-growth markets such as power batteries and photovoltaics.
