From December 15 to 17, the annual High-Tech Robot Annual Conference was grandly held at the Hyatt Hotel at Shenzhen Airport. At the special event sponsored by STEP Automation, Zhou Guangxing, Deputy General Manager of STEP Automation and General Manager of the Robotics Division, delivered a keynote speech titled “Master Core Technologies and Lead Niche Markets,” sharing STEP Automation’s journey and achievements in robotics technology R&D and niche market development. On the evening of December 17, at the High-Tech Golden Globe Awards ceremony—often referred to as the “Oscars” of the robotics industry—STEP Automation proudly won a heavyweight award: the 2021 Corporate Award.
General Manager Zhou Guangxing reviewed STEP decade-long journey of investment in the robotics industry. In terms of technological R&D, STEPeng has remained steadfastly committed to R&D investments over the past ten years, mastering core robotic technologies—including control systems, servo systems, and software systems. This year, STEPeng achieved a significant technological breakthrough in robotic dynamics algorithms, dramatically boosting the operating speed of its robots while also setting new benchmarks in operational stability, running noise levels, and positioning accuracy. In terms of market development, STEPeng, together with its partners, has conducted in-depth research into niche market demands and closely integrated these insights with specific manufacturing processes, earning recognition from leading companies across various industries. As a result, STEPeng has established a strong foothold in several key segments, including 3C electronics, thin-plate welding, packaging, tire manufacturing, and power generation. He pointed out that STEP decade-long commitment to the robotics industry has coincided with China’s robotics sector transitioning from mere development to gradual rise—a period during which Chinese domestic-brand robotics companies have continuously explored ways to break through the dominance of foreign brands in the robotics market.
Looking ahead, General Manager Zhou Guangxing stated that STEP is willing to work together with channel partners and system integrators to jointly build an ecosystem for robotics and intelligent manufacturing. By focusing on niche markets and offering high-quality products, comprehensive and in-depth process expertise, and timely and attentive services, we will collectively establish differentiated competitive advantages for Chinese robotics brands and seize greater market growth opportunities.
For more than a decade since entering the robotics industry, STEP has remained true to its original aspiration, consistently choosing to do what is difficult yet right and building a “moat” of core technologies for domestically produced industrial robots. With the determination to “benchmark against imports and surpass them,” in 2021, some of STEP products achieved performance levels on par with international brands. As STEP 20,000th robot rolled off the production line, the company entered a new phase of rapid growth. It is truly well-deserved that STEP was awarded the Enterprise Award for 2021.
