STEP Wins Chapek’s Prestigious Award
2021-09-22
From September 14 to 16, the 11th China International Robot Summit Forum and the 7th Chapek Awards Ceremony were held grandly in Wuhu. STEP was invited to attend the event, joining over 600 top experts and corporate executives from the robotics and intelligent manufacturing sectors in Wuhu to jointly explore the new future of robotics and intelligent manufacturing.
STEP awarded Chapek’s “2020 Value Brand of the Year”
On September 14, at the “Čapek Awards” ceremony—often referred to as the “Oscars of the robotics industry”—STEP powerfully won the prestigious Čapek Award—the “2020 Value Brand” award. The award citation at the ceremony highlighted that STEP robot products have earned high praise and market recognition from users; STEP has set a benchmark for high-quality robot brands in China and will continue to lead the development of the robotics industry.

It is reported that the Capek Prize aims to set a benchmark for leading companies in the robotics industry that demonstrate strategic foresight, and to highlight exemplary enterprises that showcase innovative capabilities. As an important witness and driver of the robotics industry’s development, the Capek Prize has consistently upheld the selection principles of “fairness, impartiality, and high standards,” and is committed to establishing role models for the robotics industry. As a result, it has become one of the most credible and influential awards in the sector.
Since the Chapék Award was established in 2014, seven sessions have passed to date, and STEP has received recognition from the judging panel of experts in every session. It has continuously won awards including the Technological Innovation Award and the Best Sales Award, making it a regular contender at the Chapék Awards.
Zhou Guangxing Discusses Digitalization and Focusing on Niche Markets
On September 15, at the 11th China International Robot Summit Forum—held concurrently with the Čapek Award ceremony—Zhou Guangxing, Vice President of STEP and General Manager of the Robotics Division, delivered a speech, sharing STEP practical insights and experiences in digitalization and focusing on niche markets.

Zhou Guangxing stated that STEP has formulated and implemented a digitalization strategy. Leveraging its years of accumulated expertise at the product, technology, and disciplinary levels, the company has adopted digital twin technology to establish China’s first fully operational CAVE laboratory. By utilizing advanced technologies such as virtual simulation, virtual commissioning, and 3D laser scanning, STEP has taken the lead in addressing industry challenges—including design defects, lengthy commissioning cycles, and high project failure rates—that typically plague complex intelligent manufacturing projects. The company has successfully delivered landmark projects such as a robotic manufacturing line for robots, an elevator control system assembly line, and an intelligent toilet seat assembly line, thereby setting a new benchmark for the application of digital twin technology in China.
He pointed out that precisely because the robotics industry has been highly focused on the rapidly growing automotive market over the past few decades, international first-tier robot brands have achieved iconic success. Drawing on historical lessons, in the general industrial market—where demand is vast but fragmented—Chinese robot brands must focus intensely on rapidly developing niche sectors and place great importance on the demonstration effect of leading companies in those sectors. Only then can Chinese robot enterprises truly rise to prominence. He also shared application cases of STEP at internationally renowned clients such as Haier, Kao, Foxconn, and Lens Technology.
