Application of the Xindashida SR70/2180 Robot in AI Visual Inspection for the Automotive Components Industry

2025-07-25

The Xindashida SR70/2180 robot, with its high precision, high flexibility, and highly adaptable interfaces, is actively driving the advancement of AI-powered visual inspection for automotive exterior parts toward predictive quality control.

Project Background

The AI-powered visual inspection project for automotive exterior features is a prime example of industrial intelligent transformation. By addressing the pain points of traditional quality inspection and meeting the market’s demand for high precision and efficiency, this project is becoming a key component in helping automakers enhance their competitiveness and achieve digital transformation.

The Xindashida SR70/2180 robot, with its high precision, high flexibility, and highly adaptable interfaces, is actively driving further advancement in this field toward predictive quality control.

Customer needs

• Poor consistency in manual inspections: Fluctuations in personnel and unfamiliarity with skills lead to inconsistent inspections and unreliable results.

• Low efficiency of manual inspection: Paint surface defects are subtle and varied, making manual inspection time-consuming.

• Difficulty in hiring: Young people are reluctant to take on repetitive assembly-line jobs, making it hard for companies to recruit.

• Lack of statistical analysis of issues: Manual inspection lacks statistical analysis, making it difficult to trace quality problems and impossible to establish a closed-loop control system.

Xinshida Solution

Proposal Description

The perfect combination of a smart camera and the Xindash SR70 robot addresses industry pain points and solves inspection challenges in areas such as automotive interior and exterior trim, chassis structural components, and body exterior appearance.

Scheme advantages

• Based on advanced motion algorithms and powered by intelligent cameras, this solution perfectly addresses the challenges of subtle and diverse paint defects, as well as the time-consuming nature of manual inspection.

• Vibration suppression algorithm that effectively mitigates low-frequency vibrations caused by the robot’s acceleration and deceleration, ensuring stable stopping and accurate measurements.

• Operating 24 hours a day, this solution addresses the issue of young people being reluctant to take on repetitive assembly-line jobs and the difficulty companies face in recruiting. The inspection unit can save 4 to 6 workers.

• A rich set of SDK interfaces, also supporting various bus communication protocols such as Profinet, Ethernet/IP, and CC-Link. It seamlessly integrates with MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) and PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), enabling closed-loop control through detection-feedback-process optimization.

Scheme Composition

The project is equipped with four sets of Xindash SR series SR20/1700 units.

Project Results

As automakers shift toward flexible manufacturing, production lines are frequently retooled—for instance, by adopting mixed-model production lines that handle multiple vehicle models simultaneously—making it increasingly difficult for traditional inspection methods to keep pace with dynamic demands. Xindashida Robotics has combined robotic systems with intelligent cameras to address customers’ pain points and achieve a breakthrough in production technology.
