Project Background

The Xindash AS800 high-voltage frequency converter and the ASH80 high-voltage soft starter have been successfully deployed at a water plant in Zhejiang Province, and the water supply system has smoothly passed acceptance testing.

The total investment in the water plant expansion project amounts to 169.0325 million yuan. The expansion will increase the plant’s daily water supply capacity to 50,000 tons and also equip it with emergency urban water supply capabilities. The construction scope includes the building of new pressure-stabilizing distribution wells, mixed coagulation and sedimentation tanks, clear-water reservoirs, and other related facilities. Upon completion, the project will optimize the city’s water resource allocation, meet regional industrial water demands, enhance the emergency water supply system, and improve the overall level of supporting facilities for water management operations.

Customer needs

According to the process requirements, the system must precisely control the number of pumps to be started and the speed of variable-frequency pumps. It should also perform rotating operations based on the cumulative operating time of each pump, giving priority to starting the pump with the shortest cumulative operating time to ensure that the cumulative operating times of all pumps remain roughly consistent. Meanwhile, the system strictly monitors the liquid level in the suction well: pumps are prohibited from being started when the liquid level falls below the pump top elevation; and pumps will be immediately stopped when the liquid level drops below the dry-pump protection water level, thereby ensuring the safe operation of the equipment.

In addition, the system must provide real-time dynamic visualizations of the process flow and power distribution system at the water pumping stations, support remote control of equipment, and allow flexible adjustment of setpoints and output values. The system features powerful data management capabilities, enabling it to establish a production database for storing raw production data and build a fault database. By leveraging the data stored in these databases, the system can perform statistical analysis and provide data-driven support for production decision-making.

In terms of operational monitoring, the system must continuously monitor the operating status of the water intake pump station. In the event of a malfunction, it should immediately trigger an alarm and visually display the alarm status on the process flow diagram. At the same time, the system provides interlocking functions among the internal control system devices as well as a fault status table, ensuring coordinated and safe operation of the equipment. Furthermore, the system can display trend curves for any parameter—both real-time and historical data—in real time or on demand. It also supports automatic scheduled or manually requested printing of various reports, thereby meeting the diverse needs of production management.
