Haier and Changan Automobile Sign Strategic Cooperation Agreement—STEP Deepens Collaboration with Changan Automobile

On July 23, Haier Group and Changan Automobile officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Chongqing. The two parties will collaborate in areas including humanoid robots, greater healthcare, incubation of small and micro enterprises, and industrial robotics. STEP is tasked with leading the collaboration between Haier and Changan in the fields of humanoid robots and industrial robotics. Zhou Yunjie, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Haier Group, and Zhu Huarong, Chairman of Changan Automobile, attended and witnessed the signing ceremony. Liu Changwen, CEO of STEP, also attended the meeting and delivered a speech at the signing ceremony.
Taking the strategic cooperation agreement between Haier Group and Changan Automobile as an opportunity, STEP will deepen its collaboration with Changan Automobile and continue to strengthen cooperation in intelligent manufacturing production lines for automobiles. Together, we will promote the entry of domestically produced robots into major automakers, breaking the long-term monopoly held by foreign robot brands in the automotive industry and achieving domestic substitution. Moving forward, we will further intensify our cooperation in areas such as the three-electric systems for new-energy vehicles, vehicle bodies, interior and exterior trim, and automotive electronics, thereby driving the demonstration application of embodied intelligence in specialized models within the automotive industry.
For many years, Xiaao, a subsidiary of STEP, has provided intelligent production line integration services for numerous welding and EV new-energy vehicle assembly projects undertaken by brands such as Changan Automobile, Avatr, and Changan Mazda. Over the course of their long-term collaboration, the two parties have established a strong foundation of mutual trust. Xiaao is an expert in intelligent manufacturing solutions for the automotive industry with 33 years of experience, having served renowned domestic and international automakers—including Changan Automobile—and became a wholly-owned subsidiary of STEP in 2015.
STEP Robotics ranks among the top tier of China’s industrial robot manufacturers. Adhering to a strategy of independent control and full-stack self-research, the company has established a comprehensive industrial chain spanning “key components—robot bodies—system integration” for both industrial robots and embodied intelligence, and has achieved tangible application results in the automotive and automotive parts industries.
In June of this year, Chaos, a subsidiary of Haier Group, made a strategic investment in STEP, thereby enriching Haier Group’s digital economy industrial ecosystem. Looking ahead, STEP will leverage its technological strengths in the OT layer—covering control, drive, and execution—to integrate with Chaos’ knowledge accumulation from the IT layer, thus building integrated software-and-hardware product and solution capabilities and becoming a leader in industrial intelligence solutions.
