Innovative energy conversion technology paves the way for a green future! The launch event for STEP AS720D low-harmonic onboard frequency converter cabinet was successfully held.

Under the “dual-carbon” goals, all industries are embarking on a green and low-carbon transformation. HVAC systems, which account for a significant share of building energy consumption, are no exception—and this calls for the introduction of even greener, more energy-efficient products. As a seasoned player in the variable-frequency drive industry, STEP continuously adapts to new market demands, steadily and firmly advancing its technological capabilities and leading industry development through innovative product upgrades. On July 28, STEP held a livestreaming event at its newly completed headquarters, themed: “Dual Carbon Peak and Green Drive & Control” The online live launch event will reveal to you all... New AS720D Refrigerant-Cooled Low-Harmonic Onboard Inverter Cabinet The highlights and value, It attracted more than 400 industry professionals to participate online, and received 31,000 likes.

Mr. Jin Xinhai, CEO of STEP, delivered the opening remarks at the press conference. Mr. Jin noted that STEP has long been committed to innovation, investment, and accumulation in the variable-frequency drive business, resulting in a product lineup comprising five major series with broad power ranges and universal motor compatibility. STEP variable-frequency drives have achieved a leading market position in sectors such as secondary water supply, HVAC, and tire & rubber industries. The upcoming AS720D frequency converter cabinet, after four years of meticulous preparation and refinement, represents a comprehensive breakthrough in technological potential. This product minimizes harmonic content to the greatest extent, thereby reducing grid pollution. Thanks to the adoption of the latest refrigerant-based cooling and heat dissipation technology, coupled with an LCL filter and active rectification, it boasts an expanded operating temperature range, making the power grid greener and more energy-efficient.

This press conference also featured special remarks from Secretary-General Jing of the China Refrigeration Society and Secretary-General Huang of the Shanghai Refrigeration Society.

With a call from Zhang Yonghong, General Manager of the STEP Inverter HVAC Division, the countdown digits began to tick down, officially kicking off the exciting new product launch. Li Xinghe, R&D Director and Senior Engineer of the STEP Inverter Business Unit, then introduced to everyone... AS720D Refrigerant-Cooled Low-Harmonic Onboard Inverter Cabinet Product features: Based on the core technology of STEP four-quadrant system, the AS720D, on the rectification side, ... Features low harmonic distortion (THDi: 3.4 / 3.0 / 2.7%) and high power factor (λ: 1). Meanwhile, on the inverter side, there have been significant improvements in open vector control, speed estimation, initial position accuracy, maximum torque current ratio, and various suppression parameters. At the same time, we’ve inherited and optimized STEP refrigerant cooling technology, adopting liquid-cooling methods to enhance reliability and extend component lifespan, thereby achieving a compact onboard design and delivering a superior user experience for our customers. Suitable for applications in the HVAC industry, including centrifugal machines, screw machines, and magnetic levitation units.

At the press conference, Yu Yongbo, Deputy General Manager of the Industry Division at STEP Inverter Drive Business Unit, also shared insights into inverter solutions for central air-conditioning systems in the HVAC industry. The complete solution takes into full consideration the HVAC industry’s requirements for high temperatures, high humidity, outdoor environments with enhanced protection, as well as high-frequency outputs from magnetic levitation and air suspension systems. Specifically tailored industry-specific machines are available to support each component of central air-conditioning systems. STEP inverters have already achieved remarkable success in the HVAC market—for instance, over 1,500 units of the AS700 series have been deployed in screw compressors, while the AS720 series refrigerant chiller inverters have successfully entered overseas markets such as Malaysia and India.

In addition, the press conference featured a special interactive Q&A session. Experts from STEP answered one by one the audience’s most pressing questions about product performance, application requirements, and new product deliveries, bringing this launch event to a perfect close.

In the future, STEP will continue to uphold its core values—“customer-first, hard work above all else, team collaboration, courage and responsibility, and pragmatism with innovation”—and remain customer-centric. Adhering to the principles of energy conservation, emission reduction, and environmental protection, we will launch more variable-frequency drive products and related solutions, creating greater value for our customers and contributing our part to the achievement of the dual-carbon goals.
