High-Tech Robotics Integration Association | STEP Smart Manufacturing Solutions Led by PAC

On August 3, 2022, Zhou Guangxing, Deputy General Manager of STEP and General Manager of the Robotics Division, was invited to attend the 2022 (5th) Gao Gong Robot Integrator Conference and delivered a speech. Smart Manufacturing Solutions Led by PAC Keynote speech: We’ll share how STEP leverages its core technological strengths in motion control and industrial robotics—including PAC, servo drives, variable-frequency drives, motors, and encoders—to deliver cutting-edge smart manufacturing solutions across multiple niche markets and empower our partners.

Zhou Guangxing pointed out that as smart manufacturing continues to be implemented in an increasing number of niche industries, system integrators are facing the challenge of diverse application scenarios and difficult process implementation. They urgently need support from core technologies in motion control and robotics. At the same time, domestic substitution is entering deeper waters; companies like STEP, which master core technologies in motion control and industrial robotics, are beginning to demonstrate clear market advantages. PACs (Programmable Automation Controllers) are key to these solutions. Paired with servos, motors, encoders, and human-machine interfaces, they can be integrated with SCARA and six-axis robots to support flexible and versatile production requirements on assembly lines.

Zhou Guangxing stated, “It is precisely because STEP Robotics has relentlessly pursued technological innovation that we’ve managed to stay at the forefront of industry development.” In particular, STEP has achieved a major technological breakthrough in robotic dynamics algorithms, enabling— Robot beat speed increased by up to 30% It also operates more stably. By adopting low-frequency vibration suppression technology, the robot boasts a longer service life and has already been the first in the industry to obtain MTBF certification for 20,000 hours. Thanks to its teach-free, autonomous path-planning capability, the robot is intelligent and easy to use. The performance of STEPeng robots has reached parity with that of international brands, among which... Palletizing robot cycle time breaks through 1,200 packages per hour. Even under full load and at full speed, it can still maintain... Low operating noise and high operational stability and other excellent features. The STEP four- and six-axis industrial robots have undergone 12 years of market validation and have now established a strong presence. 45 product models with a load range from 3 kg to 600 kg. 。

In robot manufacturing, the STEP Robot Superfactory has achieved robot-to-robot production. With its high-precision assembly capabilities and rigorous raw material and outgoing inspection procedures, the factory can effectively ensure the high quality of its robotic products. Currently, the factory, together with the Shenzhen plant, has an annual production capacity of 20,000 units. In this year’s market environment—where foreign brands are experiencing supply shortages and having available inventory has become a key competitive advantage— STEP is targeting the lithium battery industry, and several heavy-duty robot products have a lead time of 30 days, helping high-growth industries expand their production capacity.

In terms of cooperation strategies with integrators, STEP collaborates with integrators who are familiar with user application scenarios and key processes, leveraging PAC to lead intelligent manufacturing solutions. This approach enables us to provide users with efficient and user-friendly solutions, jointly expand our customer base, and, when necessary, bring in capital support to strengthen our partnership. By signing long-term strategic collaborations, we aim to build an ecosystem and collectively grow stronger and larger. We have currently achieved a leading position in niche markets such as lithium batteries, photovoltaics, 3C products, steel structures, and rubber tires.

The lithium-ion battery market is experiencing rapid growth and is entering the TWh era. The accelerating pace of lithium-battery technology iteration and the emergence of diverse module design architectures are placing ever-higher demands on the automation of lithium-battery production. Leveraging its extensive portfolio of motion control and robotics products, as well as its technological and service strengths, STEP can provide the lithium-battery industry with automated solutions—from equipment such as coating machines, winding machines, stacking machines, and die-cutting machines to complete production lines and entire factories.

In the rubber tire industry, STEP has expanded from being the No. 1 brand of variable-frequency drives for internal mixers to becoming a leader in the laser marking industry for rubber tires. Centered on the SR-series six-axis robots, STEP has developed an intelligent laser marking solution for tires tailored specifically for companies such as Zhongce Rubber. This solution effectively eliminates the issue of overprinting on cycle tags, reduces the rework rate, and enhances product appearance. It completely eliminates the material, labor, and correction costs associated with traditional cycle-tag and steel-ticket processes, boosts the utilization rate of vulcanizing machines, and achieves cost reduction and efficiency improvement. Moreover, this solution can automatically interact with the production MES system, generating data automatically and seamlessly integrating the MES and WMS systems, thereby elevating the digitalization and intelligence levels of tire manufacturing.

In the power transmission tower and steel structure industries, we offer STEPeng arc welding robot workstations that utilize robotic laser guidance and parametric programming to automate the on-site assembly and welding of multi-variety, small-batch components. Currently, these solutions have earned recognition from leading companies in the industry.
