STEP Robotics, with its core products being robots and motion control systems, has established a comprehensive smart manufacturing industrial chain in China—spanning from “key core components” to “robot bodies,” “engineering applications,” and “remote information technology.” The company has built a high-caliber R&D team, a well-rounded product portfolio and application platform, and has mastered key technologies in robot control, drive systems, and robot body design. In terms of manufacturing technology innovation, STEP Robotics has put into operation an internationally advanced robotic manufacturing plant with an annual production capacity of 10,000 units, significantly enhancing its delivery capabilities and ensuring consistent product quality.

STEP Robotics has mastered a variety of processes, including welding, bending, glue application, loading and unloading, and material handling and palletizing. The company has conducted in-depth R&D in the field of machine vision and has promoted demonstration applications across industries such as 3C electronics, white goods, engineering vehicles, agricultural machinery, e-commerce logistics, food and pharmaceuticals, metal processing, and automotive components.

In 2021, STEP achieved an industry-first breakthrough by introducing an arm-type aerial work platform vehicle that uses a welding platform to automatically position workpieces and perform fully automated welding of all weld seams. A significant breakthrough was also made in laser-based, fully automatic positioning and tracking technology, elevating robotic welding capabilities to a new level. Additionally, STEP initiated joint technological research and development with Hunan University of Science and Technology on “Key Technology Research for Intelligent Grinding Robots for Structural Weld Joints.”

On May 28, 2021, the ceremony marking the rollout of STEP's 20,000th robot was held at the STEP Robot Superfactory. As one of the first domestic brands to enter the robotics industry, STEP has undergone a decade of development, achieving technological breakthroughs and earning widespread market recognition.

In August 2021, STEP launched the YR series heavy-duty SCARA robots. The YR122040 model has a rated payload of 20 kg, a maximum payload of 50 kg, a rated payload inertia of 1 kg·m², and a maximum payload inertia of 2.4 kg·m². Its maximum working space radius is 1200 mm.

On August 31, 2021, Shanghai STEP Robot Co., Ltd. signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Shanghai General Electric Welding Machine Co., Ltd. Under the agreement, the two companies will leverage their respective strengths to jointly develop the next-generation welding robot system, enhance welding quality and efficiency, and address the challenges of labor shortages in the welding industry.

On October 22, 2021, STEP signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Zhongce Rubber, one of the world’s top ten tire companies, and Gude Intelligent, a system integrator specializing in the rubber tire industry. Together, they will launch an innovative, intelligent laser marking solution tailored for the rubber tire industry. Through a jointly developed nanosecond-level fly-scan software package, they have significantly enhanced the intelligent manufacturing capabilities for laser marking on all-steel and semi-steel tires.

In December 2021, the STEP Robot Superfactory—Shanghai’s first robot-manufacturing smart factory to be completed and put into operation—was recognized as a national-level pilot demonstration factory for intelligent manufacturing.

On September 20, 2022, STEP once again appeared on CCTV, making an appearance on the program "Chao Wen Tian Xia." The report highlighted that this is an automated lithium-metal battery manufacturing production line with global competitiveness. The key equipment used in this production line is SCARA robots under STEP ADTECH brand. The newly commissioned production line has a designed capacity of 100 megawatt-hours and has achieved a significant breakthrough by attaining an energy density of 500 Wh/kg for next-generation lithium-metal batteries. These batteries are already being applied in fields such as aerial drones. As the technology continues to mature, they are expected to play an even greater role in areas like electric aviation and new-energy vehicles.
