On August 18, 2022, Wang Ligang, head of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission’s inspection team, along with Wang He, principal of the Shanghai School of Information Technology, and other members of the delegation, visited the STEP Robot Superfactory. They conducted a mid-term visit to observe the practical training activities of municipal-level teachers at STEP’s factory and had face-to-face exchanges with STEP’s “mentor craftsmen” to summarize their insights and experiences. Mr. Zhou Guangxing, General Manager of STEP Robot, personally led his staff in welcoming the visiting delegation and attended the meeting to deliver remarks.
Schools are the cradles of talent, while enterprises serve as the battleground for nurturing it. Throughout the process of teaching and learning, there has always been a temporal gap: when students are learning, they don't immediately put what they've learned into practical application; yet once they enter the workforce and encounter challenges, the right moment for formal learning has already passed. Today, this temporal gap has been effortlessly bridged by collaboration and the power of collective wisdom. On one hand, the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission actively encourages teachers to step into enterprises and proactively creates hands-on opportunities for them. On the other hand, the newly established STEP Academy—a university that is open-minded, inclusive, and committed to global aspirations—has, from its very inception, embraced a grand mission of giving back to industry and vocational education. Thus, we see a sincere and fruitful partnership between a dedicated team of teachers who are devoted to rigorous scholarship and enterprises that are driven by pragmatism and innovation.
The meeting was chaired by Ms. Shi Kanglei from the Shanghai School of Information Technology. Mr. Zhou Guangxing welcomed the visit of the Education Commission leaders and expressed STEP strong support and enthusiasm for teachers’ practical activities. The Education Commission leaders, in turn, expressed their gratitude for STEP selfless support and voiced their great anticipation.

Taking advantage of their precious summer vacation, the “trainee teachers”—Jiang Hui, Ju Yi, Yan Qiuyan, Zhang Hong, and Zhao Yan—each shared their internship experiences and discussed their short-term and long-term plans after spending two months interning at the robotics factory. The new-time professionals attending the meeting, who had just left school, also seized a rare opportunity to reflect on and appreciate the teachers’ fresh perspectives and innovative teaching philosophies from the vantage point of instruction and skill transfer.
The teachers and experts attending the meeting unanimously recognized STEP corporate culture and positively affirmed its profound guiding and motivating role in enterprise development, national sentiment, and industrial practice.
Engineers Li Yepeng and Yang Zengfa, representing the mentor engineers, delivered a speech outlining the company’s hiring criteria, work processes, team activities, working methods and content, as well as how adhering to an advanced corporate culture has led to increased productivity.
Teacher Ma Mingjuan from the Shanghai School of Information Technology provided on-the-spot comments on the teachers’ internship reports. Leaders and experts from the Education Commission also offered their remarks one after another. Afterwards, accompanied by Mr. Fan Zeng, Deputy General Manager of the STEP Industrial Robot Business Unit, and the mentoring team, the Education Commission leaders toured the STEP Robot Superfactory.

The practical training activities conducted by municipal-level teachers at STEP’s factory are precisely an effective extension and implementation of STEP’s academic ethos—where the company’s educational initiatives give back to society and contribute positively to the public good.
