STEP Mechanical Equipment Control System Project | Awarded First Prize of the China Machinery Industry Science and Technology Award

To promote scientific and technological progress in the machinery industry, motivate science and technology personnel in the machinery sector, and recognize units and individuals that have made outstanding contributions to scientific and technological work in the machinery industry, the China Machinery Industry Federation and the Chinese Society of Mechanical Engineering jointly issued the “Decision on Awarding the 2020 China Machinery Industry Science and Technology Awards.” According to the decision, a total of 370 projects were awarded the 2020 China Machinery Industry Science and Technology Awards, including 9 Special Prizes, 38 First Prizes, 133 Second Prizes, and 190 Third Prizes. Among these, the project “Key Technical Standards for Real-Time Communication in Mechanical Equipment Control Systems and Their Testing Devices,” in which Shanghai New Motion Robot Co., Ltd. participated, was awarded the First Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress in the China Machinery Industry.
This project was jointly undertaken and successfully completed by seven institutions, including Shandong University of Architecture, Shandong University, the National Machine Tool Quality Supervision and Inspection Center, the Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (Shenyang), and Shanghai New Motion Robot Co., Ltd. The project has developed a real-time communication technology for mechanical equipment control systems, addressing key technical challenges such as the real-time and efficient transmission of control and status data, precise synchronization of actions among distributed nodes, and secure and reliable communication. The team also developed a network performance testing device, a bus-based servo system, and a networked motion control system. Furthermore, they formulated the mechanical industry standard JB/T13075-2017, thereby promoting the application and widespread adoption of these technologies and standards in advanced equipment control systems, including textile machinery, industrial robots, and CNC machine tools.
The China Machinery Industry Science and Technology Award has played a positive role in boosting the enthusiasm and creativity of science and technology workers across the machinery industry and in promoting the development of science and technology in this sector. It is one of China’s most influential industry awards. Established jointly by the China Machinery Industry Federation and the Chinese Society of Mechanical Engineering, and approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China and certified by the Office for National Science and Technology Awards, this comprehensive award is open to the entire machinery industry nationwide and serves as the primary channel for machinery enterprises to nominate candidates for the National Science and Technology Progress Award.
