The graduation ceremony for the second session of the Shanghai Intelligent Manufacturing Planning/Consulting Training Program was held at STEP.

To implement the "Shanghai Special Action Plan for Building 100+ Smart Factories (2020-2022)" and promote the in-depth development of intelligent manufacturing in this city, we will advance the construction of 100+ smart factories and cultivate 10 system integrators with world-class capabilities in intelligent manufacturing, thereby laying a solid foundation for shaping new competitive advantages for "Made in Shanghai." The Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology, the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, and the Shanghai Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau are jointly promoting a talent-development program. They encourage enterprises to establish positions for intelligent manufacturing planners and consultants, and, leveraging the Shanghai Intelligent Manufacturing Functional Platform Talent Development Base, will launch training courses for intelligent manufacturing planners and consultants. Over several phases, they will train 200 such professionals, thereby building up a reserve of talent to support enterprises' transformation and upgrading toward intelligent manufacturing.

The second session of the Shanghai Intelligent Manufacturing Planning/Consulting Training Program was held from November 17 to 19. The program was co-organized by the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and undertaken by the Shanghai Intelligent Manufacturing R&D and Transformation Functional Platform. The graduation ceremony was held at Shanghai STEP Robot Co., Ltd. Attending the graduation ceremony were Chen Kele, Deputy Director of the Intelligent Manufacturing Promotion Division of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology; Wu Chunping, Research Officer; Zhao Yong, Deputy General Manager of the Shanghai Intelligent Manufacturing R&D and Transformation Functional Platform; as well as Cai Liang and Tian Yongxin, Vice Presidents of STEP.

1. Integration of industry and education, on-site learning

On the morning of the 19th, the trainees first visited the STEP Robot Factory to learn about STEP’s robot production and R&D activities. Afterwards, Zhao Yong, Deputy General Manager of the Shanghai Intelligent Manufacturing R&D and Transformation Functional Platform, chaired a study and exchange session. Tian Yongxin, Vice President of STEP, briefed the trainees on STEP’s explorations and specific implementation efforts in the field of intelligent manufacturing over recent years. Wang Lei, Deputy General Manager of STEP’s Xia’ao White Body Division, presented Xia’ao’s specific cases of intelligent manufacturing in the automotive industry as well as the development and application of new technologies.

2. Closing Ceremony of the Training Course

The graduation ceremony was chaired by Wu Chunping, a researcher at the Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology. Chen Kele, deputy director of the Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology, and Cai Liang, vice president of STEP, presented graduation certificates to the student representatives.

In his concluding remarks, Deputy Director Chen Kele expressed gratitude for the training event organized by Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the Shanghai Functional Platform for R&D and Transformation of Intelligent Manufacturing. He also thanked STEP Robot Company for its support. He hoped that the participants would gain valuable insights from this training and be able to put what they’ve learned into practice in their future work. Furthermore, he expressed his hope that the training program would continue to be held regularly, laying a solid foundation for building new competitive advantages for “Shanghai Intelligent Manufacturing” and cultivating talent to support the intelligent transformation and development of enterprises.
