A good rain knows the right time; it falls precisely when the moment is ripe. This is an unforgettable moment: amid the gentle, drizzling rain, the cool air feels especially fresh and crisp. A large bus, accompanied by a gentle breeze and light rain, slowly makes its way from Songjiang toward Jiading Xu. On board is Tian Yongxin, Director/Vice President of STEP and General Manager of Xia'ao Company. Leading more than forty elite members of Xia'ao, he’s heading toward a long-awaited appointment.
In front of the office building at STEP Suyi Road Factory, a brief yet solemn unveiling ceremony took place. As the final countdown reached zero, STEP President Ji Defa and Xia’ao General Manager Tian Yongxin jointly unveiled the plaque. The red silk covering was slowly lifted, revealing the nameplate of Shanghai Xia’ao Xiangrong Automotive Equipment Co., Ltd. Immediately following the crisp sound of cameras snapping, the moment was captured precisely at 10:18 a.m. on June 27, 2020—the 15th day of the fifth month in the lunar calendar, corresponding to the hour of Si in the year Gengzi, Renwu, and Xin Chou. Instantly, applause erupted, as employees attending the ceremony and the iron trees blooming near the nearby expert residence jointly witnessed this thrilling and memorable occasion.
The event was chaired by Li Guofan, Vice President of STEP. Attending the event were leaders including Jin Xinhai, Vice President of STEP; Yang Lisha, Vice President; Hu Zhitao, Deputy General Manager of the Intelligent Manufacturing Division, as well as some employees from Xia'ao.
Speech by Ji Defa, President of STEP
In his opening remarks, Jidefa Ji, President of STEP, noted that several cycads in front of the company’s expert building have once again bloomed. While it’s said that cycad blooms are a rare occurrence—happening only once in a millennium—STEP cycads seem to know exactly when to bloom; over the past few years, they’ve already flowered for the third time. The first bloom occurred in 2010, the year STEP went public; the second bloom took place in 2015, when the company celebrated its 20th anniversary. This year’s third bloom seems to be a special occasion—perhaps because Xia’ao has returned home, moving from Songjiang to Jiading to join us here. These are indeed wonderful times, truly auspicious days. On this occasion, I wish that together we will continue to unite, strive hard, and share in mutual prosperity.
Xiao Ao | Integrated Drive-Control Smart Production Line Project
Smart manufacturing is currently a key industry being vigorously promoted by the Chinese government. The domestic market for this industry exceeds 100 billion yuan. STEP is a pioneer in smart manufacturing. This year, after Xiaoa helped us put into operation the integrated drive-and-control intelligent production line, the results have been outstanding—its stability and reliability are truly impressive. This production line is a testament to Xiaoa’s strength. We hope that together we can fully leverage our existing strengths, strive to take the lead, and become a unicorn enterprise. To achieve this goal at an early date, let’s work together with all our might!

In his subsequent words of thanks, Xia’ao’s General Manager Tian Yongxin said that General Ji attached great importance to Xia’ao’s recent relocation and personally oversaw every aspect of the process. He even had a particularly exquisite corporate plaque custom-made for us. Both General Li and General Gong have done an enormous amount of work—no detail too small—for Xia’ao’s relocation. Here, we’d like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the group’s leadership and colleagues for their tremendous efforts in making this relocation a success!
Xiao Ao | Automotive Flexible Manufacturing Line Project
In 2015, Xiao’ao joined STEP. The group’s leadership has provided strong support to Xiao’ao—both in terms of growth opportunities and strategic development. Looking back on those remarkable years since its establishment in 1992, Xiao’ao has undergone several relocations. Over the past two decades, time has flown by in the blink of an eye. Throughout this period, Xiao’ao has witnessed and experienced the automotive industry’s vibrant prosperity and steady upward trajectory. Through our hard work, we’ve boosted our revenues and built our own competitive edge in the industry. Today, amid the ongoing pandemic, the macroeconomic environment remains challenging, and the automotive industry has entered a period of adjustment. The pandemic has accelerated industry consolidation and also spurred Xiao’ao to pursue a diversified development strategy. Guided by STEP “318” strategy, we are confident that Xiao’ao will open up even greater new horizons in the field of intelligent manufacturing.
Xiao Ao Meets in Jiading | Event Site
On such a day of favorable weather and abundant rainfall, Xiao Ao and STEP converged in Jiading. The gentle murmuring of the flowing water, accompanied by Tian Zong’s heartfelt remarks, sent ripples dancing across the pool behind him—seemingly narrating the struggles and triumphs they’d endured along the way, while also foreshadowing a future brimming with smooth progress and endless prosperity.
