Working Together to Fight the Epidemic and Build Our Dreams | STEP Officially Resumes Work

Responding to the call from the Shanghai Municipal Government, and adhering to strict yet orderly and precise measures, STEP Group and its subsidiaries in the Jiading district of Shanghai—specializing in electrical equipment, motors, robotics, cables, and other related fields—safely and smoothly resumed work on February 17, while ensuring the safety and health of their employees.

At the time of resuming work, Ji Defa, President of STEP Group, delivered a message titled “Fighting Together Against the Epidemic, Jointly Building Our Dreams” to mark the resumption of work.

The recently concluded Spring Festival was destined to be an extraordinarily unusual one in history. The COVID-19 pandemic, like a superweapon, abruptly brought our normal way of life to a standstill, plunging the entire country into a nationwide “war” against this novel virus.

In these few short weeks, I’ve witnessed so much that has touched my heart... There’s the tragic passing of Dr. Li Wenliang, a man of integrity who succumbed to the illness; there’s the inspiring sight of countless medical volunteers braving danger to rush to Wuhan’s frontline to fight the epidemic; there’s the image of Academician Zhong Nanshan, aged 84, delivering a tearful interview, and Academician Li Lanjuan, age 73, directing operations on the frontlines in Wuhan. And then there are the scenes—spanning from national leaders down to grassroots cadres at all levels and neighborhood service workers—who, regardless of their own safety, have been standing firm and fulfilling their duty to safeguard our country around the clock. I’d like to say: This is precisely the hope of a nation and a people. Whether we’re national elites or ordinary citizens, whenever the country faces adversity, we’ll all step forward and be ready at a moment’s notice to answer the nation’s call.

I’d also like to commend all of our STEP employees for their unwavering commitment and sense of responsibility over the past few weeks as they’ve been fighting against the virus—each one of you has stepped up to the plate, fulfilling your duty to protect both your family and the nation. Our entire company has actively responded to the calls from the national government and the Shanghai municipal authorities by postponing the resumption of work. Some of our colleagues have even driven long distances to help mask manufacturers overcome their challenges; others have proactively provided supplies and solutions to companies struggling to meet the demand for masks and other critical materials. Still others have gone above and beyond, overcoming all sorts of obstacles to ensure that all safety measures are in place so that our employees can return to work smoothly. And let me emphasize: this is precisely the spirit that defines STEP! No matter how great the challenges we face, whether we’re leaders or ordinary employees, we always keep a strong sense of responsibility at heart and remain fully committed to creating value for our customers.

Due to the severity of the epidemic, we have heeded the government’s call and, since the seventh day of the lunar new year, our R&D personnel, management staff, and sales representatives have started working from home online. While preparing for this year’s sales activities, our sales team is also actively staying in touch with customers, reassuring them that STEP is fully committed to providing them with every possible service. Yesterday, Zhishan was the first to resume work; on the day of resumption, General Manager Wang Gangzhi specially penned an enthusiastic and spirited opening address titled “Unite Us, Together Toward the Future.”

We will surely emerge victorious in this battle against the epidemic! For we see strong leadership, unwavering confidence, and an indomitable spirit! Although the epidemic continues, today we’re officially resuming work. We know full well that what truly determines the survival of our company is not the epidemic itself—but rather our ability to swiftly restore production under these circumstances, to deliver greater value to our customers in a safe and efficient manner, and to earn their trust and recognition. The marketplace is like a battlefield; we must race against time. We aim to achieve in 10 months what would normally take 12 months. Not only can we win this battle against the epidemic, but we’re also determined to win this year’s economic battle!

The rugged pass ahead seems as solid as iron, yet now we take a step forward and start anew. This battle against the epidemic has taught us that every ordinary employee could be a figure who makes history; every campaign must unite everyone—from top to bottom—in shared hardship and joy; and every victory hinges on an unwavering will. I hope—and I firmly believe—that having gone through the trials of this epidemic, every member of Xindata will draw upon these precious spiritual treasures, continuously improve themselves, and surpass their own limits.

In everything we do, we strive for excellence. Not only must we make up for the losses caused by the pandemic, but we must also continue to align with our corporate strategy, step by step, and together build the dream of a new future for Shidada!
