[STEP Group | Zhongweixing] On November 8, the 6th Shenzhen Top 100 Innovative SMEs Awards Ceremony was held in Nanshan District, Shenzhen. Shenzhen Zhongweixing, a leader in the automation and robotics industry, successfully made it onto the Top 100 list, highlighting its strong innovation capabilities and brand influence.
The Shenzhen Top 100 Innovative Enterprises Selection, guided by the Municipal Science and Technology Innovation Commission, the Municipal SME Service Bureau, and the China Association of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, is jointly organized by the Municipal SME Development Promotion Association and the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone Newspaper. Since its inception in 2006, the event has been held every two years and has now become one of Shenzhen’s most influential brand initiatives, playing a positive role in encouraging SMEs to pursue independent innovation.
This selection process lasted one year and culminated in the identification of 100 companies from over 3,000 applicants. The evaluation comprehensively assessed these companies across several dimensions, including their independent innovation capabilities, business models, financial compliance, corporate culture, and integrity-building mechanisms. Zhongweixing ranked 12th among the top 100 in terms of its independent innovation capability.

Looking back on the 17 years that Zhongweixing has been in business, we have consistently focused on the R&D of comprehensive motion control solutions and industrial robots, placing technological innovation at the forefront of our corporate development. The company has maintained a strong commitment to substantial investment in R&D, gradually mastering the core technologies in our industry and achieving a leading position in R&D capabilities within the same sector. In addition, we have strengthened cooperation with government agencies, universities, and research institutes, establishing the “Industrial Robot Motion Control R&D Center” and the “Shenzhen SCARA Robot Engineering Laboratory,” thereby building an open R&D platform. To date, the company has cumulatively filed over 100 patent applications in related technology fields, with many of these technologies reaching internationally advanced levels.
Zhongweixing continuously explores new talent development mechanisms and models, and insists on recruiting outstanding recent graduates with bachelor’s degrees or higher from multiple universities each year to join its R&D team. At the award ceremony held that day, Wang Lixin, Vice Mayor of Shenzhen, pointed out in his speech that the city now has more than 14,000 nationally recognized high-tech enterprises. Seventy-three percent of the city’s authorized invention patents, over 80 percent of its innovation platforms and national high-tech enterprises, 91 percent of China’s well-known trademarks, 93 percent of the nation’s intellectual property leading enterprises, and 96 percent of Guangdong Province’s famous brand products all originate from private enterprises. Small and medium-sized enterprises are a vital force driving Shenzhen’s economic and social development; they form an important foundation for Shenzhen to achieve economic transformation and upgrading and promote high-quality development; and they provide strong support for expanding employment and improving people’s livelihoods.
