On the afternoon of May 16, the work promotion meeting of the Enterprise Committee for Caring for the Next Generation in Nanxiang Town, Jiading District, Shanghai, together with the award ceremony for the STEP High School Scholarship, was held at the Zhidi Park in Nanxiang Town. The “STEP High School Scholarship” was established in 2007 and has continuously supported high school students in Nanxiang Town in pursuing their dreams over the past thirteen years, injecting positive energy into the development of education. At the award ceremony, Lu Weiliang, Chairman of the Trade Union of the Jiading District Education Bureau, announced the list of winners who had received the STEP High School Scholarship and the Teacher Award. Xu Jiansheng, Vice President of STEP, presented the cash prizes and certificates to the winning teachers and students. Afterwards, Mr. Xu shared his insights on STEP commitment to caring for the next generation.

Awarding the STEP High School Scholarship

In 1999, STEP established its presence in Nanxiang. Over the past two decades, with the care and support of successive generations of people in Nanxiang, STEP has grown from a mere few dozen employees at its inception to more than 3,000 today; its revenue has soared from just over 10 million yuan initially to nearly 3.5 billion yuan now, enabling the company to achieve rapid, leapfrog development. As an enterprise deeply rooted in Nanxiang and nurtured by this community, STEP is profoundly grateful for the hometown that has fostered its growth. While pursuing its own development, STEP never forgets to give back to society and actively participates in various public welfare and charitable initiatives. The STEP High School Scholarship was established in 2007, annually rewarding 20 outstanding students from high schools in Nanxiang Town who excel in moral character, intellectual ability, and physical fitness. In 2015, a new addition was made—the Outstanding Class Teacher Award, which recognizes 10 exemplary class teachers each year. The purpose of these awards is to inspire young teachers to fully realize their potential and better nurture the next generation. In 2016, STEP organized the 10th Annual Alumni and Teacher Reunion Day, attended by over 160 participants, including leaders from Jiading District and Nanxiang Town as well as past award recipients. Today, this scholarship program has reached its 13th edition, benefiting a total of more than 300 teachers and students from Jiading No. 2 Middle School and Nanxiang Middle School. STEP dedication and generosity have injected positive energy into the development of youth education, and we sincerely hope that the award winners and teachers will continue to pass on this spirit of kindness and compassion to future generations.

Awarding the STEP Teacher Incentive Grant

Education is the foundation of national development, and schools are the cradle for nurturing talent. STEP has been striving to closely integrate school education with the talent needs of enterprises, providing support for educational initiatives at various institutions across the country. For example, STEP has established STEP Scholarships at Chen Tao Township Primary School in Binhai County, Jiangsu Province, as well as at universities including Harbin Institute of Technology, Shandong University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Meanwhile, STEP serves as a practical base for caring for the next generation in Nanxiang Town and a youth employment internship base in Jiading District. Every year, students from primary, secondary, and higher education institutions both domestically and from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan come to our company for internships and hands-on experiences. In areas such as robot programming, human-computer interaction, and artificial intelligence, STEP opens its production and research facilities to students, offering them vivid real-world case studies that help broaden their horizons, expand their thinking, and enhance their scientific and technological literacy.

This year, the high school division of Nanxiang Middle School has been merged into the newly established Shanghai University Affiliated Nanxiang Senior High School. Jiading No. 2 Middle School has officially been designated as a specialized ordinary high school in Shanghai. These are all gratifying and commendable developments. Xu Jiansheng, Vice President of STEP, delivered a speech expressing his hope that Jiading No. 2 Middle School and Shanghai University Nanxiang Senior High School—now standing at a new starting point—will seize new opportunities, forge ahead into a bright new future, and create an even more comprehensive platform for students’ all-round development! We also extend our warmest wishes to this year’s graduating high school students: may you achieve outstanding results in the upcoming Gaokao and gain admission to your dream universities for further studies!
