13 New Professions Released
In April, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, the State Administration for Market Regulation, and the National Bureau of Statistics jointly released information on 13 new occupations. These are the first batch of new occupations announced since the publication of the 2015 edition of the National Occupational Classification Directory. The new occupations are primarily concentrated in high-tech fields, encompassing cutting-edge professional and technical roles emerging from the upgrading of industrial structures, transformations of traditional occupations driven by technological advancements, and new occupations arising from the widespread application of information technology.
These 13 new professions include: Artificial Intelligence Engineering Technicians, Internet of Things Engineering Technicians, Big Data Engineering Technicians, Cloud Computing Engineering Technicians, Digital Managers, Building Information Modeling Technicians, Esports Operators, Esports Players, Drone Pilots, Agricultural Managers, IoT Installation and Commissioning Technicians, Industrial Robot System Operators, and Industrial Robot System Maintenance and Operations Technicians.
STEP Robot Training Center
As a leading enterprise in China’s intelligent manufacturing sector, STEP has consistently been committed to cultivating highly skilled professionals. The STEP Robot Training Center was established in 2014 and primarily offers training courses including: welding robot installation and commissioning (specialized vocational skills); industrial robot system commissioning technician (advanced level) and industrial robot system commissioning technician (intermediate level); STEP robot beginner programming and STEP robot advanced programming; CoDeSys installation and configuration as well as STEP standard projects; advanced welding functions; advanced palletizing functions; additional axis configuration and servo tuning. Over the past five years, the center has trained more than 1,000 technical personnel.
In 2016, the Training Center undertook the Shanghai Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau’s project for a welding robot system commissioning training center and the welding robot installation and adjustment course project, completing project acceptance in 2018. Following acceptance, the Training Center not only provides high-skilled talent development for STEP but also offers training services for high-skilled professionals in the robotics field across Shanghai. Additionally, it can provide relevant vocational training for individuals choosing “new professions.”
