China Market SCARA Sales Ranking | Zhongweixing Ranks 3rd, No. 1 Among Domestic Brands

Gao Gong Robot Network published on March 19, 2019: “2018 China…” SCARA robot “Shipment Volume Ranking.” According to GGII data, in 2018, foreign companies accounted for 66.04% of China’s SCARA market sales share.
According to SCARA sales data, compared with 2017 sales figures, most suppliers saw a slight increase in SCARA shipments in 2018, while the CR5 ranking of market share remained unchanged. Among them, Epson and Yamaha continued to lead, followed by Zhongweixing, Mitsubishi, and Toshiba.

From a technical standpoint, compared to foreign brands, domestically produced SCARA robots still have some gaps. Although the performance of certain products has already approached international advanced levels, there are still noticeable differences in areas such as repeat positioning accuracy, cycle time, and high-speed anti-vibration capability. In terms of pricing, the downward trend in prices of domestically produced SCARA robots has accelerated, gradually widening the gap with foreign brands; meanwhile, mainstream manufacturers such as Epson and Yamaha have seen relatively limited price reductions.
As one of the most widely used robots in the 3C and new-energy sectors, SCARA robots are among the robotic platforms that most readily rely on standardized models to achieve large-scale production. According to GGII, over the next three years, demand for SCARA robots in China’s market will remain promising. Against the backdrop of squeezed profit margins for end-manufacturers, high cost-effectiveness remains one of the key factors that many end-users consider when making purchasing decisions—for example, in industries such as LED and mobile phones.
Currently, domestic suppliers involved in SCARA robots include Zhongweixing, Delta (Taiwan), Liqun Automation, Turing, Huiling, Foshan Industrial, Kaibao, Qifan, Estun, Tiantai, and Zhuhai Zhixin, among others.
