On January 15, despite the depths of the "San Jiu" cold season, stepping into the auditorium of the STEP Shanghai Suyi Road factory feels like instantly traveling through time and space. The hall is brimming with spring-like vitality and warm energy; the stage is festively decorated with colorful lanterns and streamers, radiating a joyful and harmonious atmosphere. The festive ambiance, filled with happiness and cheer, is as refreshing as a gentle spring breeze. Here, STEP 2018 Annual Meeting and 2019 Spring Festival Gala are being held. The STEP team members, who have arrived as scheduled, have put aside their year-long busyness, bringing with them smiles, blessings, and hopes—as well as the growth and achievements they’ve experienced throughout the past year at STEP. At this happy gathering, they come together to welcome the New Year and celebrate this grand occasion.

2018 STEP Annual Conference

Over the past year, STEP various business segments have all stepped up their efforts in competition and collaboration. The opening annual video review highlighted the achievements of the past 365 days, allowing each subsidiary to relive its own remarkable moments. At the end of the video, the strategic blueprint unveiled provided a panoramic overview of our new strategic goals and vision—feeling as though the bugle call for a new charge has sounded once again.

Host Gao Haofeng was beaming with joy as he invited leaders from various companies to present their Spring Festival couplets. Each couplet drew enthusiastic applause. These ingeniously crafted couplets were brimming with ambition and aspiration, vividly showcasing the pioneering spirit and vigorous fighting will of those who dare to break new ground.

Ji Yi, Chairman/President of STEP

Welcoming the New Year and celebrating the Lunar New Year, Ms. Ji Yi, Chairperson and President of STEP, delivered the opening speech at the annual meeting. Facing a challenging macroeconomic environment, the Chairperson acknowledged the achievements made by each subsidiary, while also conducting a thorough analysis of the company’s current challenges and clearly outlining the direction for future efforts.

She stated that, under the leadership of the founding team led by Mr. Ji Dong, STEP has achieved countless firsts in elevator control systems—some of which have even placed China, and indeed the world, at the forefront—and has consistently been a source of pride and honor for us! Our companies—Zhongweixing’s SCARA robots, Xia’ao’s system engineering solutions, Huitong’s automation channels, and Zhishan’s textile machinery servos—have all earned customer recognition and secured their rightful market positions through dedicated efforts in their respective fields. Our strategic layout within the smart manufacturing industrial chain is both comprehensive and well-rounded, and our robust R&D foundation is rare and highly regarded across the entire automation industry.

However, we clearly recognize that the time has come for STEP to embrace significant transformation—and to embark on a new path of development! As Mr. Zhang Ruimin of Haier once said, “There are no successful companies; there are only companies that adapt to their times!” STEP needs precisely this kind of courage: to keep pace with the times and drive scientific transformation. We must also carry forward the precious entrepreneurial spirit left to us by the first-generation founding team led by Old Ji Dong—being globally oriented, striving for excellence, and always aiming to be number one!

Our organization must be vibrant and dynamic. Building a senior team with a sense of mission, a mid-level team driven by professional dedication, and a grassroots team that takes responsibility—this is the foundation and prerequisite for strategic success! We firmly believe—and are determined to make—2019 the new starting point for our next journey. Through solid, diligent efforts over the five-year strategic period from 2019 to 2023, we are confident that STEP will surely soar to new heights in the next strategic phase!

In his speech, Mr. Ji Defa, founder of STEP, said that we’ve gathered here today in the auditorium—whom we at STEP are proud to call our own—to hold the 2018 Summary and Awards Ceremony as well as the STEP Spring Festival Gala. Like everyone else, I’m especially delighted to be here. First of all, let me extend my early New Year greetings to all of you. I wish you a happy New Year, a harmonious family, and every blessing in life! At the same time, I hope that in 2019, STEP can recapture the passionate, ambitious spirit it once had before its IPO—a spirit characterized by fierce determination and an unyielding attitude. May we once again demonstrate the remarkable resilience and indomitable spirit that enabled us to rise triumphantly from adversity in 2019.

Here, I’d like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all our cadres and employees who, in 2018, made every effort to safeguard STEP’s honor and glory! At the same time, we’re delighted to see that, despite last year’s extremely challenging environment and uncertain outlook, we’ve successfully formulated STEP’s Strategic Plan for 2019-2023.

STEP is a company with ideals and ambitions. I believe that none of STEP employees would want the company to simply accept its fate and remain idle. While the fast horse may still have a chance of survival, the slow horse is destined to wait for death. When we start our own businesses or run enterprises, whether for the sake of society or our families, we should all feel a sense of mission and responsibility. To achieve this, we must strive relentlessly to turn the impossible into the possible—and only by remaining unyielding and boldly forging ahead amid pressure and crises can we succeed. History has repeatedly shown us that success belongs only to those who never give up in their relentless efforts.

Flowers bloom and then fall, yet we greet the New Year with smiles; as spring departs, it returns again and again, joyfully ushering in a new era. Hosts Gao Hao, Shi Yuhong, Jiang Xiaoyan, and Shi Keli donned festive attire to celebrate the New Year together with everyone during this time of bidding farewell to the old and welcoming the new.

Different Us

The opening performance was a hit-parade of viral dance routines titled “A Different Us,” presented by Yixin Company. As the musical styles shifted, the passion of samba, the vivacity of cha-cha, the grace of rumba, and the allure of Latin dance all came together in one vibrant showcase. The fiery contemporary dance vividly captured the vigorous energy and vitality of the new era.

The Noble Consort's Drunkenness

Accompanied by the music of “The Drunken Consort,” four elegantly adorned women, each holding silk scarves, and four handsome, masculine young men, each supporting lanterns, engage in a harmonious interplay of strength and grace. In this classical dance, the fluid movements resemble a butterfly flitting among flowers and trees, embodying the hopeful promise of spring returning to the earth, and the tender sprouts of new branches bursting forth with green vitality—truly a delight to the soul.

Poem Recitation: "Yearning"

The management team of the Elevator Division has brought you a poetry recitation titled “Yearning.” “My heart forever yearns for the future—there, in the future, lie my land and my seas; there, in the future, are my oases and jade towers; there, in the future, is my dawn and clear skies.”

Dance "Light and Shadow"

Then, the stage lights went out completely, and in the darkness, six dancers dressed in fluorescent suits performed the dance “Light and Shadow.” The audience’s eyes were immediately drawn to the glowing silhouettes. Like robots powered by electricity and receiving precise instructions, the six dancers executed their movements in perfect unison, their motions punctuated rhythmically to the music with an exceptionally strong sense of timing.

The intermission exercise performance incorporates trendy dance elements. Whether it’s from the workshop to the office, or from the factory grounds to the conference room—wherever you are willing to go, STEP stage is right there for you. With synchronized steps, precise movements, and vibrant energy, the dancers showcase the dynamism and charm of STEP people.

The performer of “The Reader”—Wang Chunxiang, a leading figure in STEP Technology—recited Wang Guozhen’s poem, “Heading Toward the Distance.” “Heading toward the distance is to make life even more brilliant. Walking along rugged and uneven paths, our young eyes hold not only dreams but also profound thoughts…” His gaze was resolute, as if he were leading his team forward with boldness and high spirits toward the horizon.

Choral performance

At the end of the program, the STEP Choir performed “Nan Ni Wan” and “The Song of STEP.” We set out from STEP—this is where dreams take flight. Facing the world, we strive for excellence and always aim to be number one, soaring ever higher and constantly welcoming new dawns...
