Smart Technology, Smart Elevators—A Report on STEP Participation in the 2018 China International Elevator Exhibition

From May 8 to 11, 2018, the China International Elevator Exhibition was grandly held at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). The exhibition was spread across five halls—from 4.2H to 8.2H—covering an area of 135,000 square meters. Over 1,300 exhibitors from more than 20 countries and regions around the world participated, attracting a total of 121,000 professional visitors.
The STEP booth is located in Hall 7.2H. The exhibition theme is: Smart Technology, Intelligent Elevators.

Smart Elevators, Intelligent Control Solutions
Using the home escalators showcased on-site as a platform, STEP prominently demonstrated the application results of new technologies such as facial recognition, voice recognition, absolute encoders, and intelligent building traffic systems.

The content showcased in this area is quite comprehensive, featuring control cabinets and integrated control cabinets that comply with European standards; variable frequency drives and all-in-one machines; human-machine interfaces, wires, and cables; intelligent commissioning technologies, the Xingchen IoT for elevators, and automatic escalator control systems—all presented in a centralized manner.
A current social hotspot—installing elevators in older residential buildings—is being addressed by STEP with its professional, system-based solutions. As the number of elevators in service and their average age continue to rise, technical upgrades to existing elevators have become a key focus for industry insiders. Robotic Elevator Door Panel Automated Production Line Solution
Currently, the country is vigorously promoting intelligent manufacturing, and the industrial upgrading of the elevator industry is in full swing. STEP Robotics has actively joined this transformative journey, designing and implementing automated production lines for elevator door panels, elevator car wall panels, shearing, punching, and bending processes, as well as automated welding workstations for elevator car floors and upper and lower beams. According to statistics, among our partners in the elevator industry, the factories that have adopted these projects have at least halved their workforce on the production lines.
The newly unveiled robot-based elevator door panel bending demonstration workstation at this exhibition has attracted industry professionals to stop and discuss. The workstation demonstrates the workflow of magnetic separation of elevator door panels, gravity-based centering, four-blade bending on both sides, and material stacking.

The above process can be customized to suit different bending processes. Currently, some customers are requesting that door panels and stiffeners, among other components, be joined using riveting techniques. To meet these diverse customer needs, we offer customized, automated production lines for door panels.
