From December 27 to 29, the “Our Golden Decade of Industrial Control—China Motion Control/Direct Drive Technology Industry Development Summit Forum and CMCD & CDDIA Annual Awards Ceremony” was held in Shenzhen. Mr. Cao Haixiao, head of domestic servo products at STEP Motion Control Division, was invited to deliver a keynote speech at the forum. Meanwhile, STEP won four prestigious brand and product awards in one fell swoop, bringing a perfect conclusion to 2021.

Cao Haixiao: STEP Operation Control Powers Smart Logistics

The keynote speech by Cao Haixiao, head of domestic servo systems at the Operation and Control Division of STEP Electric Co., Ltd., was titled “Intelligent Drive Systems Empowering Smart Logistics.” He pointed out that innovation in intelligent solutions is fundamentally transforming the traditional logistics drive market. Automated sorting machines are now widely used in production logistics systems and logistics distribution centers across various industries, and complex mechanical structures are being increasingly replaced by intelligent mechatronic solutions. STEP comprehensive, high-performance product lineup—including variable-frequency drives, servo drives, and robotic products—already holds significant potential in the emerging logistics sorting market.

Cross-belt sorters and AGV sorters are well-suited for applications involving lightweight and small items. Cao Haixiao stated that STEP Ω6 AC servo products fully meet the requirements of cross-belt sorters for high reliability, high dynamic performance, and high overload capacity. Meanwhile, STEP newly launched Amal AGV, designed by a renowned domestic team of wooden horse designers, draws its design inspiration from penguins—“ships of the ocean.” It features a compact size, a payload of 16 kg, a travel speed of 1 m/s, and an exceptionally long battery life of up to 10 hours.

Based on scenarios such as e-commerce and new retail, and leveraging a variety of mature technologies, logistics and warehousing are gradually shifting toward high-density storage and intelligent systems that eliminate intermediate transportation channels. Cao Haixiao stated frankly that building distributed drive systems using intelligent, distributed frequency converters can effectively reduce the complexity of logistics conveyor systems and lower system costs. To this end, he shared with everyone the successful application experiences of STEP S-series distributed drive products and AS500/600 series frequency converters in conveyor systems and in stacker cranes driven by common DC bus systems.

Cao Haixiao also introduced the application achievements of STEP stacking/unstacking robots in the logistics industry. “STEPeng robots possess complete intellectual property rights and, combined with 3D vision technology, can perform unsorted palletizing. Their highly customizable and flexible nature is another key selling point. In addition to customization options for vision systems, barcodes, upper-level WMS systems, and HMIs, the robots can also offer specialized custom solutions—for example, low-profile robotic arms tailored for the sheet-metal industry, or highly protective drive cabinets designed for environments with high dust levels.”

STEP Transportation Control Wins Four Major Awards

On December 28, the award ceremony for the “2021 China Motion Control/Direct Drive Industry Development Summit Forum” was held as scheduled in Bao'an, Shenzhen. During the event, the winners of the CMCD/CDDIA 2021 Annual Awards were announced and honored, recognizing outstanding enterprise brands, innovative technologies, products, and applications that have made remarkable contributions to the servo, motion control, and direct-drive sectors, thereby boosting the vigorous development of the industry.
STEP has been awarded three major brand honors for 2021: “User-Satisfied Brand in Motion Control,” “Most Competitive Brand in Motion Control,” and “Brand Trusted by Direct-Drive Customers.” Meanwhile, the five-axis coordinated vision dispensing system DJ1600V4 has successfully been recognized as the innovative product of the year in the motion control field.

2. Single-system multi-station, supporting simultaneous machining of four stations with 32 axes;
3. It features graphical drag-and-drop programming, making it easy to learn and use.

5. Supports high-speed position synchronization output for jet valves, with an accuracy of up to 1 µm.
