STEP Signs Strategic Cooperation Agreements with Zhongce Rubber and Gude Intelligent.
2021-10-25

On October 22 in Shanghai, at the STEP Robot Superfactory, STEP signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Zhongce Rubber—the world’s top ten tire companies—and Gude Intelligent, a system integrator specializing in the rubber and tire industry. Together, they are launching an innovative, intelligent laser marking solution tailored specifically for the rubber and tire sector. Leveraging a jointly developed nanosecond-level fly-scan software package, this solution has significantly enhanced the intelligent manufacturing capabilities for laser marking on all-steel and semi-steel tires. Currently, this solution has been successfully implemented and is operating stably at Zhongce Rubber Group’s headquarters and its subsidiary, Qingquan Company.
Representatives from Zhongce Rubber (Qingquan) Company, STEP Robot, and Gude Intelligent signed the cooperation agreement. Leaders from Zhongce Group, STEP Group, and Gude Intelligent, along with representatives from rubber and tire industry enterprises, witnessed the signing ceremony.

Guo Jiangang, Director of the Equipment Department at Zhongce Rubber Qingquan Company, shared his experience in the implementation of the project. He pointed out that the newly launched laser engraving solution for rubber tires, with its innovative technology, has enabled Zhongce Qingquan to achieve high efficiency and recoup its investment within the same year. The R&D team at Gude Intelligent has replaced the decades-old, time-consuming, labor-intensive, and less effective processes of using periodic plates and steel license plates—with their innovative laser engraving technology—thus recovering the investment within the same year. This not only reduced labor costs but also improved product yield, paving the way for high-level intelligent manufacturing.

Hai Libo, General Manager of Gude Intelligent, pointed out that the newly launched laser engraving solution for rubber tires benefits from STEP mastery of core robotic technologies. During the development of this solution, the company collaborated closely with STEP R&D engineers to jointly develop a nanosecond-level fly-scan software package tailored to the specific process requirements of the tire industry. This package fully meets the laser engraving technology demands for both all-steel and semi-steel tires, thereby helping customers reduce costs and improve production efficiency.
Liu Haibo stated that the newly launched solution not only provides users with other features—such as DIY trademark customization, market anti-counterfeiting management, and a revamped sulfurization ID production process—but also corrects errors in serial numbers and inconsistencies in tire information throughout the circulation process, thereby enhancing the accuracy and clarity of sulfurized products.

In his welcoming remarks, Wu Yuhui, Director and General Manager of STEP Group, pointed out that as China’s No. 1 robot brand in terms of installed capacity, STEP Group leverages its expertise in mastering core technologies for drive and control systems. With a “complete machine + process” strategy, the company collaborates closely with its partners to address the specific needs of niche markets. This time, in partnership with system integrator Gude Intelligent, STEP Group conducted in-depth analysis of customers’ manufacturing processes and carried out secondary development, thereby creating significant value for its clients. This represents yet another success story for STEP Group—demonstrating its mastery of core technologies and its leadership in niche markets.

Concurrently with the conference, a seminar on laser marking solutions for rubber tires was also held. Professor Liu Fasheng from Shandong University of Science and Technology and representatives from several rubber tire companies attended the seminar and observed firsthand the rubber tire laser marking workstation.
