Breaking Through Domestic Production: Advancing the Further Evolution of Advanced Semiconductor Manufacturing Equipment Made in China
During the roundtable discussion titled “The Rise of China’s Intelligent Manufacturing Strategy in the Semiconductor Industry” held at the Semiconductor Applications Special Session, Chen Long, Director of the Semiconductor Industry at STEPeng, shared insights on the development path for domestically produced equipment and STEP practical contributions.
He stated that in mature process segments, domestically produced semiconductor equipment has already achieved complete substitution. As for advanced process technologies, we are by no means lacking in outstanding companies and products; the key lies in how to ensure that end manufacturers genuinely accept and adopt domestically produced equipment. STEP is fully confident in this regard and is actively supporting the promotion and development of domestically manufactured semiconductor equipment.

Zhongweixing, a subsidiary of STEP, boasts deep R&D and application expertise in the field of industrial automation. In 2020, it fully committed to the development and application of semiconductor equipment and has now completed the development and practical deployment of more than ten models of semiconductor wafer robots. As China advances toward independent and controllable semiconductor manufacturing, Zhongweixing, under STEP, leverages its own technological and resource advantages. Building on the localization of core technologies and products, it has established a robust, localized ecosystem encompassing development, customization, and service.

2025 High-Tech Golden Globe Award: Named “China’s Fastest-Performing SCARA Robot Company”
Zhongweixing, a subsidiary of STEP, boasts 23 years of deep industry expertise and technological accumulation in the field of industrial automation. Thanks to the exceptional performance of its Yunxia series high-speed SCARA robots, it has been awarded the “China’s Fastest-Performing SCARA Robot Company” at the 2025 High-Tech Golden Globe Awards.
This award is attributable to the Yunxia series of high-speed SCARA robots, which the company launched in the first half of 2025. Designed specifically to meet the demands of industries such as 3C electronics and digital lithium batteries for high precision and high cycle rates, this model boasts a cycle time of just 0.24 seconds and a repeat positioning accuracy of ±0.015 mm. As a result, it significantly boosts both production capacity and yield in lithium battery cell stacking and consumer electronics assembly, making it an indispensable tool for addressing the challenges of “multi-variety, small-batch” manufacturing.

Looking ahead, STEP will continue to focus on the practical application of cutting-edge technologies such as embodied intelligence, and work in synergy with its partners to drive intelligent upgrades—from core components to comprehensive solutions—thus jointly supporting the scalable development of smart manufacturing.
