STEP Debuts at the 2024 Hong Kong Aircraft Maintenance Technology Exchange Conference
2024-12-19
To promote the development of green and low-carbon ports, the “Port Machinery Technology Exchange Conference,” hosted by the Shanghai Lifting and Transportation Machinery Industry Association, organized by Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries (Group) Co., Ltd., and co-organized by Shanghai Xinglinna STEP Electric Motor Co., Ltd., was successfully held in Shanghai on December 12, 2024. The conference brought together over 160 industry experts, scholars, and business representatives, showcasing a variety of cutting-edge port machinery technologies and jointly ushering in a new chapter in the development of port machinery.
This on-site exchange aims to further enhance communication and cooperation, promptly identify port renovation needs, build mutual trust through dialogue, seek collaborative opportunities, achieve complementary advantages through integration, and realize mutual benefits and win-win outcomes through cooperation.

Port Crane Drive and Control Driven by Green Intelligence
During the conference, Dr. Cai Xinbo, Chief Engineer of the STEP Variable-Frequency Drive Systems Division, delivered a keynote speech titled “Port Crane Drive and Control under Green and Intelligent Power: Intelligent Integration and High-Performance Energy-Saving Strategies.”

Cai Xinbo, Chief Engineer of the New-Time Drive Systems Division
“The control of power systems and drives is essentially a multi-objective optimization problem under multiple system constraints.” Cai Xinbo gave a detailed explanation of the company’s latest technological achievements in the field of drive and control for port lifting equipment. By employing intelligent integrated control algorithms and high-performance, energy-saving technologies, the company has achieved precise control and high efficiency and energy savings during the operation of lifting equipment.
The presentation specifically introduced a new algorithm called COC for permanent-magnet synchronous motors, as well as application cases of retrofitting permanent-magnet direct-drive systems. This technology can effectively reduce energy consumption while enhancing the operational stability and reliability of equipment, providing crucial technical support for the intelligent upgrading of port handling equipment such as belt conveyors, ball mills, mixers, and rubber internal mixers.
His presentation won widespread recognition from the attendees and provided the industry with practical, actionable solutions and insightful references.

Wang Yong, Director of Lifting and Logistics at STEP Logistics, attends the conference on-site.

STEP Drive and Control Products and Applications
Industry Manager Sun Wei shared information about STEP Drive & Control products and their applications. He provided a detailed introduction to the AS700 series of engineering variable-frequency drives, covering everything from the product’s eight key features all the way to motion controllers and PLC products such as the SC30 and SC20.

Sun Wei, Industry Manager, STEP Drive Systems Division
“The AS700 series inverters are air-cooled engineering drive inverters featuring a common DC bus architecture. They adopt a material-saving design and a book-like structure, making them easy to install in cabinets. With a variety of topologies, they can be flexibly configured—either as two-quadrant or four-quadrant inverters—through adaptable unit combinations. The main control unit and power units communicate via fiber optics, providing strong anti-interference capabilities and high reliability, making them particularly well-suited for lifting applications with regenerative energy feedback,” he explained.

In addition, regarding application expansion, he also introduced application cases such as *port machinery, high-speed positioning, and *offshore engineering, directly addressing key pain points and attracting widespread attention from port machinery users at the scene.
