STEP Zhongweixing Robotics Shines at CIBF2025 Lithium Battery Expo

From May 15 to 17, 2025, the 17th China International Battery Technology Exhibition (CIBF 2025) will be held with great acclaim at the Shenzhen International Convention and Exhibition Center. As a “leading indicator” of the global new energy industry, this year’s exhibition is themed “Connecting the World, Empowering Green, and Driving the Future,” attracting more than 3,000 companies from across the battery industry chain.

At this grand event, which focuses on the deep integration of intelligent manufacturing and green energy, STEP Zhongweixing Robotics, guided by the core philosophy of “Speed, Precision, and Innovation,” has unveiled a comprehensive, all-scenario solution for lithium-ion battery production based on its four-axis SCARA robot. Through live demonstrations of several key processes—including high-speed material handling, dynamic tracking and gripping, fly-capture gripping, and heavy-load transportation—STEP showcased the technological leadership of domestically produced robots in the field of new-energy intelligent manufacturing, drawing intense industry attention.

All-scenario solutions—focusing on industry pain points.

Against the backdrop of the rapid development of the new energy industry, the dual demands of capacity expansion and upgrading manufacturing processes in the lithium-battery sector have placed higher requirements on the precision, efficiency, and flexibility of production equipment. In response to this industry trend, STEP Zhongweixing Robotics has focused on three core principles—high precision, high speed, and high flexibility—and presented end-to-end solutions spanning the entire process, from cell assembly to module packaging.

A terminal manufacturer from the lithium-ion battery industry said, “This flexible solution perfectly matches our needs for multi-category, customized production.”

Fast • Lithium Battery Tabbing Application

As a heavyweight new product making its debut, Zhongweixing’s next-generation Yunxia high-speed SCARA robot is meticulously tailored to meet both market and user needs. Featuring an advanced modular design, it leverages static and dynamic simulation technologies to achieve optimal structural rigidity and weight balance. Its standard cycle time is as low as 0.24 seconds, making it ideally suited for lithium-battery cell stacking applications. This robot can be applied in scenarios such as lithium-battery cell stacking, handling of photovoltaic cells, food sorting and packaging, pharmaceutical sorting and packaging, and more.

Stable • Cell Loading and Unloading Application

The YR series heavy-duty SCARA robots are specifically designed for applications requiring compact workspace, heavy payloads, high cycle rates, and high precision. They feature a maximum motion radius of up to 1200 mm, a maximum payload capacity of 50 kg, a repeat positioning accuracy of ±0.03 mm, and a maximum payload inertia of 2.4 kg·m². These robots boast characteristics such as heavy-load capability, high rigidity, high cycle rate, and high precision, making them ideal for cell handling processes. They are suitable for industries including lithium-ion battery manufacturing, automotive component production, and food and beverage packaging and palletizing.

Precision • Application of Sorting and Feeding for Battery Cell Explosion-Proof Valves

The Zhongweixing CR4115 four-axis SCARA robot, paired with a flexible vibratory bowl feeder and the Zhongweixing AVS vision system, is used for sorting and feeding battery cell explosion-proof valves. Thanks to its multi-gripper design and Zhongweixing’s advanced multi-point continuous high-speed imaging technology, production efficiency is significantly enhanced, enabling highly accurate sorting and tray placement at rates of 36 to 40 pieces per minute. This solution is ideal for precision manufacturing industries such as 3C electronics, photovoltaics, lithium batteries, automotive electronics, aerospace and defense, and chip semiconductors.

Quasi—Cell Detection, Sorting, and Packaging Application

The Zhongweixing ARJ-L10-20 cleanroom SCARA robot, paired with the Zhongweixing AVS vision system, is used for sorting and boxing soft-pack battery cells. It employs linear trajectory dynamic following technology and is suitable for processes such as battery cell inspection, scanning, and boxing. This solution is applicable to industries including battery cell sorting and boxing, loading and unloading in 3C electronics inspection, boxing of bagged foods, and pharmaceutical packaging.

Dynamic following of linear trajectories for loading and unloading demonstration

The STEP Zhongweixing FR5215B upgraded hoisting SCARA robot, paired with Zhongweixing’s AVS vision system, is used for sorting and boxing soft-pack battery cells. It employs arc-trajectory dynamic following technology, making it ideal for battery-cell inspection processes in compact spaces with high throughput requirements. This solution allows multiple views and multi-feature inspections to be integrated into the arc-shaped path. The system boasts high efficiency while reducing the need for cell handling, thereby minimizing the risk of cell damage, collisions, and short circuits. It is suitable for applications including battery-cell sorting and boxing, loading and unloading in 3C electronics inspection, loading and unloading for rubber components, as well as loading and unloading for glass panels and hardware parts grinding.

Dynamic follow-up loading and unloading demonstration

Joint ecological development ushers in a new chapter of industrial collaboration.

The innovative applications of industrial robots in the lithium-ion battery sector are far from reaching their ceiling. STEP Zhongweixing Industrial Robots continues to deepen its expertise and refine its offerings. As of now, STEP Zhongweixing Robotics has cumulatively launched over 100 robot products, including six-axis, four-axis, and semiconductor robots. Moreover, it has completed a modular upgrade of its four-axis SCARA product series, enabling rapid response to diverse robotic needs across different application scenarios.

In this global wave of the new energy revolution, STEPeng Zhongweixing, anchored by technology, has presented to the world—a futuristic, scenario-based demonstration—that proves: Chinese robots not only have the capability to break through “bottleneck” technologies but have also taken the lead in setting the standards for the next generation of intelligent manufacturing. As the four-axis SCARA robotic arm traces graceful arcs on the exhibition stand, what we see is not merely the flawless coordination of precision components; it’s also the firm, pioneering footsteps of a national brand leading industrial transformation.
