Shanghai STEP Electric Co., Ltd. successfully concluded its series of activities for the 2024 “Safe Production Month.”

June 2024 marks China’s 23rd National Safety Production Month. To deeply study and grasp the important discourses and guiding instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping on safety production, and to implement the requirements of the 2024 National “Safety Production Month” campaign, Shanghai STEP Electric Co., Ltd. organized a series of themed activities for “Safety Production Month,” centered around the theme “Everyone Talks About Safety, Everyone Knows How to Respond to Emergencies—Keeping Lifelines Clear.” These activities were spearheaded by the Group’s Administration Department.
I. Create an atmosphere for Safety Month activities
In a prominent location within the factory, an eye-catching promotional banner featuring the theme of Safety Month is displayed. Meanwhile, inside the office building, carefully arranged display stands dedicated to Safety Production Month have been set up, equipped with an abundance of informative materials that employees can readily access at any time. These initiatives are designed to actively promote a safety culture, widely disseminate safety knowledge, and further enhance employees’ safety awareness. Through these activities, we hope to create a positive atmosphere for Safety Month—where everyone emphasizes safety, everyone knows how to respond effectively in emergencies, and life-saving pathways remain unobstructed—so that every employee can deeply appreciate the importance of safety and actively participate, working together to build a safe and secure workplace environment.
II. Organize safety training for all employees
To implement the requirements for safe production set forth by higher authorities and enhance employees’ safety awareness, the company held company-wide safety training sessions on June 17 and June 19 at the Meiyu Road Factory and the Siiyi Road Factory, respectively. The training covered topics such as knowledge of safe production, types and usage of fire-fighting equipment, methods for extinguishing fires, and fire escape skills. At the training sessions, participants watched the Jiading District’s 2023 Safety Production Warning Video as well as several case studies of typical fire accidents.
Through the training, employees’ safety awareness has been further enhanced, particularly their ability to effectively handle emergency and sudden safety incidents. At the same time, the training has played a positive role in improving employees’ capacity to respond to fire-related incidents.
3. Conduct fire drills.
To effectively enhance employees’ proficiency in fire evacuation and escape skills as well as their ability to skillfully use fire-fighting equipment for firefighting, the company conducted two fire drills on the mornings of June 27 and June 28, respectively, at Meiyu Road and Suyi Road. The Nanxiang Fire Rescue Station was invited to provide guidance and support during these emergency drills, which covered two key components: emergency evacuation and the proper use of fire-fighting equipment.
When the fire emergency alarm sounded, everyone reacted swiftly, bending low to pass through the billowing “thick smoke” and evacuating in an orderly manner from the upper floors to the designated emergency assembly point, following the drill’s established procedure. Through this emergency evacuation drill, everyone personally experienced the correct methods for escaping in an emergency, became familiar with the procedures and routes for emergency evacuation, and ensured that, in the event of a fire, they could carry out a quick, efficient, and orderly self-rescue, thereby maximizing the safety of all employees’ lives.
After the employees had been safely evacuated, firefighters at the演练 site carefully explained to the employees the different types of fire extinguishers and how to use them. The employees actively participated in hands-on training with fire extinguishers. Through practical exercises, they became familiar with selecting the right fire extinguisher, mastering its proper usage, and understanding important precautions.
Although Safety Production Month has come to an end, ensuring safe production is an ongoing journey. Moving forward, STEP will take Safety Production Month as an opportunity to consolidate the achievements of the campaign, further strengthen safety awareness, firmly implement safety responsibilities, enhance emergency response capabilities, and create a positive cycle of “using the month to drive the year, and using the year to ensure safety.”
