From August 18 to 20, the “2020 Belt and Road & BRICS Skills Development and Technological Innovation Competition—International Elevator Engineering Technology Competition” was held in Hall 8 of the Shanghai National Exhibition and Convention Center. Xu Chao, Secretary-General of the Chinese Secretariat of the BRICS Business Council, and Liu Zhenying, Head of the Skills Group of the BRICS Business Council (Chinese side) and Chairman of the International Alliance for Belt and Road & BRICS Technological Development, attended the opening ceremony and performed the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The organizers of this competition are the “BRICS Business Council” and the “International Alliance for Skills Development along the Belt and Road and BRICS Countries.” The承办 unit is the “Skills Development Working Group of the BRICS Business Council,” and the co-organizers are the “Research Institute of Building Mechanization, China Academy of Building Research Co., Ltd.,” and “Beijing Jiake Emerging Technology Co., Ltd.” A total of 40 contestants from 23 organizations—including Guizhou Zhonghang Elevator and Shijiazhuang Railway Vocational and Technical College—participated in the competition. Among them, five contestants from Suzhou Vocational University were foreign participants from South Africa.
After three days of intense competition, the event came to a close on the afternoon of August 20. Li Daobo from Guizhou Zhonghang Elevator took first place in the corporate group with a score of 76.05 points, while Qiu Nian'ao from Shijiazhuang Railway Vocational and Technical College won first place in the student group with a score of 71.8 points. Five South African athletes from Suzhou Vocational University also delivered impressive performances, drawing considerable attention during the competition. Among them, female athlete Gris stood out particularly, achieving an outstanding score of 51.55 points.
The control system for this competition was provided by STEP, including the control cabinet, operator panel, external call box, and overhead wiring junction box. Yin Jinsong and Zhang Jie, two technical managers from STEP customer service center, participated in the judging and technical support duties for this competition, contributing significantly to ensuring the reliable operation of the competition equipment.
