With the fragrance of golden osmanthus filling the air and a refreshing breeze gently blowing, on September 12, 2017, the groundbreaking ceremony for the new factory building (Phase I) of the Intelligent Flexible Welding Production Line Project—Xiao’ao Industrial Intelligent Equipment (Suzhou) Co., Ltd.—was solemnly held at the Kunshan High-tech Zone Industrial Park in Suzhou. Leaders from the Kunshan High-tech Zone Investment Promotion Bureau, Economic Development Bureau, Robotics Industry Base, and Urban Planning & Construction Bureau, as well as representatives from the construction partners, senior executives from STEP Group, and Xiao’ao employees, all attended the ceremony together.
Groundbreaking Ceremony
The first-phase project of the Xia’ao Kunshan new factory, which has now begun construction, covers an area of 20,000 square meters and has a total investment of 190 million yuan. The project includes the construction of modern production workshops as well as a research and development center building. At the groundbreaking ceremony, Ji Yi, Chairman of STEP, and Gu Baochang, Director of the Investment Promotion Bureau of the Kunshan High-tech Zone, delivered enthusiastic speeches respectively.

Standing here today, I’m filled with immense excitement. In just one year, a brand-new, world-class, intelligent, flexible robotic welding and assembly line engineering system—on par with the best in China—will rise from the ground right here. At this very moment, we sincerely thank the leaders of the Kunshan Municipal Government and the various commissions and bureaus of the High-Tech Zone for their strong support throughout this entire process! We also extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Xiao’ao management team for their unwavering dedication and relentless efforts!
Xiaao is one of the most important subsidiaries of STEP, tasked with the strategic mission of rapidly developing and expanding the group’s robotics engineering integration business. The new factory has a very clear goal: “high starting point, high standards, first-class design, and forward-looking planning.” Therefore, the newly built facilities and equipment place particular emphasis on increasing investment in R&D, testing, and the application of intelligent technologies. The construction of a VR experience room will enable three-dimensional visualization of production lines and human-machine interaction through virtual reality simulations. All these plans are designed to ensure Xiaao’s brighter future and to make the Kunshan new factory a model for intelligent manufacturing in China!
