There are now clear guidelines for elevator IoT! The technical specifications were explained in detail at the STEPeng New National Standard Promotion Conference.

On August 4-5, 2023, STEP, as a participating drafting unit of the standards, attended the promotion and training conference held in Jiaxing for the national standards “Basic Requirements for Enterprise Application Platforms of Elevator IoT” (GB/T 24476—2023) and “Technical Specifications for Monitoring Terminals of Elevator IoT” (GB/T 42616—2023).

Mr. Du Chao, head of the STEP Elevator Cloud Product Line, served as one of six invited guests and presented GB/T 42616—2023 “Technical Specification for IoT Monitoring Terminals for Elevators” at the conference. His presentation covered several aspects, including system architecture, a comparison of key standard contents, and real-world application examples. Combined with STEP elevator cloud solution, he provided a detailed interpretation of the configuration requirements, functional requirements, and testing methods specified in the standard, along with practical case studies.

STEP Elevator Cloud closely aligns with the requirements of two national standards and, building on this foundation, expands its functionality to meet actual market needs. The Elevator Cloud fully leverages its own control system advantages, integrating technologies such as elevator IoT and cloud computing to achieve digitalization and intelligentization of elevators. The big data generated by its holographic communication system, which monitors the operational status of elevators, enables timely detection of potential safety hazards, helping customers achieve digital maintenance and predictive maintenance. At the same time, it empowers elevator manufacturers and users to confidently fulfill their safety responsibilities, enabling efficient, precise, and intelligent management, troubleshooting, and dispatching.

This training and promotion conference was organized by the National Elevator Standardization Technical Committee and hosted by the Building Mechanization Research Institute of the China Academy of Building Research Co., Ltd. and the editorial office of “China Elevator” magazine. More than 150 representatives from elevator manufacturers, IoT companies, maintenance and repair enterprises, and special inspection agencies across the country participated in the study and exchange. Chen Fengwang, Secretary-General of the National Elevator Standardization Technical Committee, delivered a speech and presented a special report, clarifying that two national standards for elevators will officially come into effect on December 1, 2023.
