STEP has been awarded the “2025 China Robotics Industry Annual Brand Influence Enterprise Award.”

On April 10, 2025, the "OFweek 2025 (14th) China Robotics Industry Conference," hosted by Viknet—a leading platform in China's high-tech industry—was grandly launched. With its robust technological prowess and strong brand presence, STEP Robotics broke through on two fronts and was honored with the "China Robotics Industry Annual Brand Influence Enterprise Award."

Chen Dong, Marketing Director for the Electronics Industry at Shanghai New Motion Robot Co., Ltd., delivered a keynote speech titled “‘Robotics Control+’ Leads New Quality Productivity and Revolutionizes High-end Applications.” In his speech, Chen Dong pointed out: “The global industrial chain restructuring presents both challenges and, more importantly, a strategic opportunity for Chinese robotics companies to define technological standards.”

In recent years, factors such as Sino-U.S. trade tensions, export controls, and technological blockades have accelerated the restructuring of the global robotics industry chain. Tariff barriers and technology embargoes have heightened the risks associated with sourcing core components from overseas. The U.S. has raised tariffs on semiconductor equipment destined for China to 35%, and import restrictions on core components for industrial robots continue to tighten, spurring an accelerated pace of domestic substitution. According to data from the International Federation of Robotics (IFR), in 2024, China’s rate of domestic production of industrial robots exceeded 52%, an increase of 17 percentage points compared to pre-tariff-war levels.

Against this backdrop, STEP has forged a technological moat—using “positive, independent R&D” as its shield and “full-industry-chain self-control” as its spear—to build a comprehensive portfolio of technologies spanning controllers, servo systems, and core algorithms. From the laboratory to the production line, from the domestic market to 25 overseas countries, STEP has written a “history of breaking barriers” in China’s robotics industry, achieving a controller self-sufficiency rate of 90% and undergoing four generations of iterative upgrades in control hardware. At the conference, Chen Dong provided a detailed account of how STEP leverages technological innovation to empower the intelligent manufacturing upgrade of critical national equipment and to pioneer new frontiers for high-end applications of domestically produced robots.

Semiconductor Equipment Breakthrough: ADTECH® FA Series Wafer Robots

Addressing the longstanding reliance on overseas monopolies in semiconductor manufacturing equipment, STEP has launched the ADTECH® FA series four-axis linked wafer robot. This robot employs a collaborative control algorithm for J1-J4 axes and combines linear motion along the Z axis with composite motion along the X/Y axes, achieving a repeat positioning accuracy of ±0.05 mm and a transfer speed of 2.5 m/s. Equipped with the SC410 integrated drive-and-control platform, the robot leverages a multi-core heterogeneous processor architecture to deliver a real-time control cycle of just 1 ms, enabling precise trajectory planning for four-axis coordinated motion. In third-generation semiconductor (GaN/SiC) production lines, this robot achieves an MTBF of 50,000 hours without any failures. The product has been mass-applied in smart logistics systems at 12-inch wafer fabs, successfully completing highly challenging processes such as EFEM equipment integration and 3D IC stacking. Moreover, the cost of domestically produced equipment is 40% lower than that of imported equipment.

Control Technology Innovation: SRC4 Integrated Drive and Control System

Faced with the urgent demand from the lithium-ion battery and photovoltaic industries for more compact equipment, STEP has developed the “China Core”—the SRC4 control cabinet—which, with its ultra-compact volume of just 0.25 m³, supports the operation of 600 kg payload robots, reducing space requirements by 70% compared to conventional products. The cabinet features a distributed control architecture and an all-in-one control kernel, and has passed 139 extreme environmental tests (including temperature ranges from -40℃ to 85℃ and 95% humidity tolerance), while withstanding accelerations of up to 15 m/s².

Even under high-speed operating conditions, it maintains a trajectory accuracy of ±0.02 mm, helping to increase production line takt time by 30% and redefining “China Speed.”

STEP SRC4 Robot Control Cabinet

The new-generation SRC4 robot control cabinet, built on the STEPStudio industrial software ecosystem—anchored in digital twin and virtual control technologies—enables integrated process simulation, offline programming, and CAM functionalities. The STEPStudio platform from STEP reduces the debugging cycle for robotic workstations by 50%. The STEPStudio offline programming platform empowers robots to evolve from mere “mechanical executors” into “intelligent decision-makers,” ushering in a new era of flexible manufacturing. From “catching up” to “running alongside,” from “domestic substitution” to “global leadership”—STEP robots have always closely intertwined the company’s destiny with the rise and fall of the nation. Looking ahead, STEP will continue to anchor itself in its “Control+” strategy, pioneering new frontiers in robotics and ensuring that every rotation of Chinese robots becomes a resounding step forward as China’s intelligent manufacturing strides toward the stars and the seas!
