Developing New-Generation Productive Forces: STEP in Action (Part 3)
2024-03-20
Building new-quality productivity is also reflected in industrial empowerment.
How can STEP help the industrial sector rapidly develop new-quality productivity, support the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries, and promote a new type of industrialization? Today, we’ll take a look at the final installment of our series!
Empower high-quality development across all industries with new-quality productivity.
STEP has consistently leveraged its technological strengths to meticulously refine products and solutions tailored to industry-specific application scenarios, helping customers in both emerging and traditional industries enhance their production efficiency and outcomes, and promoting the upgrading of industries toward high-end, intelligent, and green practices.
Lithium batteries and electric vehicles have joined photovoltaic products as the “new three major export items,” and for the first time, they have been included in the government work report. In the high-quality development of these industries, STEP presence is frequently seen.
STEP Robot Lithium-Battery Handling Workstation
With a wide variety of models, high-quality products, and comprehensive, in-depth process research, STEP Robotics can provide end-to-end, scenario-specific solutions covering the entire production process chain for lithium-ion batteries and photovoltaic systems—and these solutions have been thoroughly validated by the market. Notable projects include the deployment of 500 SCARA robots with a payload capacity of 50 kg in the battery module PACK stage.
The STEP SC50 is an open-type motion controller based on the Codesys platform. It features a built-in vision module and boasts significantly enhanced computing power. Additionally, it includes specialized cam and tension modules tailored for lithium batteries, earning high praise and positive feedback from customers.

· Photovoltaic industry
STEP SCARA, SP, SD, and SR series six-axis robotic products are applied throughout the entire photovoltaic production process—including silicon ingot handling, silicon ingot gluing, wafer basket transfer, module layout, glass feeding, and assembly box palletizing. Based on the specific needs of industry customers, these robots can undergo secondary customized development to closely align with actual production requirements, making them easy to use and maintain. This helps elevate the automation level of production lines and improve product yield.
STEP Robot’s Applications in the Photovoltaic Industry
For traditional industries, the shift from human labor to machines and the dual-carbon strategy have become even more urgent. It is essential to accelerate the pace of intelligent transformation and drive a smooth transition from old to new growth drivers.
To this end, STEP has launched the world’s first intelligent laser marking workstation for rubber tire production. This solution integrates advanced technologies such as robotics, vision systems, and laser engraving into tire marking processes, bringing about a significant technological upgrade to the tire industry.

Water treatment is another quintessential traditional industry. STEP variable-frequency drive products, control systems, and related solutions now cover the entire water chain—from water intake and conveyance to drainage and wastewater treatment. By offering “customized solutions plus one-stop technical support,” STEPeng is fostering green and sustainable development in this sector. For example, through years of collaboration with leading secondary water supply companies, STEPeng has continuously optimized and improved its control technologies, developing an efficient pump operation control technology that achieves even greater energy savings than before.

· Automotive and Automotive Components Industry
The SA-series welding robots have been introduced into automotive white-body production lines, marking a breakthrough for domestic brands. They are already being applied in various process stages of automotive component stamping and testing. Our subsidiary, Shanghai Xiao'ao, boasts extensive experience in automated welding for complete vehicle production lines. It employs multi-robot collaboration to handle the entire process—from assembling the three major underbody components, side panels, roof panels, and door panels, through gluing, spot welding, re-welding, and final assembly, all the way to edge rolling—enabling flexible production of multiple vehicle models.
