Professor Wang Tianmiao is a Ph.D supervisor, honorary director of Beihang Institute of Robotics, National Distinguished Professor Changjiang Scholar, winner of National Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, chairman of IEEE R&A Beijing Region, and independent director of STEP.

On the afternoon of April 29th, Professor Wang Tianmiao gave a lecture entitled "The Revolutionary Era of Intelligent Machines (5GIoT+AI+RT)" in the STEP lecture hall for STEP R&D and market managers.

Professor Wang first introduced the application results of new technologies such as soft robots, medical robots, and short-distance transportation service robots. Afterwards, he shared some premises of his thinking about intelligent machines: material needs, information needs, and value needs; product era, interactive era, and precision service era; long-term rigid demands of intelligent robots and leading industries, system design, training, services, etc.

Professor Wang focused on explaining the point of view that exponential development technology will change the future, and put forward the concept of "smart machine = perception + decision-making + execution = Internet of Things + artificial intelligence + robot = 5GIoT + AI + RT". According to the needs of changes in social forms, subversive technologies and time points, and pain points in the field, it proposes a transformation path for intelligent machines centered on customer needs and driven by national interests. At the end of the lecture, Professor Wang introduced the hot technologies that everyone is concerned about, such as foreign robots and some trends of Chinese robots.
