[Source: Shangguan News] As a shining pearl in the Baltic Sea region, Latvia has a unique geographical advantage. The capital Riga has been a trade center connecting the Nordic countries with the European continent, Western Europe and Eastern Europe since the Middle Ages.


This year marks the fifth anniversary of my country's "Belt and Road" initiative. Over the past five years, the "Belt and Road" initiative has attracted the active participation of many countries around the world. On October 11, local time, the 2018 China (Shanghai) International Technology Import and Export Fair (Shanghai) Latvia Exhibition officially opened in Riga, the capital of Latvia. The content of this overseas exhibition includes high-end equipment and technologies such as smart cities, energy equipment, nuclear power energy, intelligent manufacturing, and robots. 38 companies including Shanghai Instruments, Shanghai Electric, and Shanghai STEP participated in the exhibition.

On the afternoon of the 10th local time, the China-Latvia Trade and Investment Exchange Conference was held in Riga. 150 people from government officials, business circles and business representatives from China and Latvia attended the event. Shanghai International Technology Import and Export Promotion Center and Latvian Investment and Development Agency, Shanghai Elevator Industry Association and Rifa Chamber of Commerce signed memorandums of understanding on further deepening cooperation.
