As an inverter technical support engineer, I am fascinated by new products and new technologies. After entering STEP Motor Company, I found that the company’s high-voltage inverter for ME800 internal mixer can perfectly drive permanent magnet synchronous motors in MTPA mode. Realizing energy saving and emission reduction in the rubber industry has aroused my great interest, and I am eager to go to the site to participate in the debugging of ME800 high-voltage inverters.

After a period of practice (studying relevant materials), the opportunity appeared, and the leader arranged for me to debug a ME800 high-voltage inverter with my colleagues. After going to the site for routine wiring, complete the wiring of the encoder of the motor, and self-study the permanent magnet synchronous motor and encoder. After modifying the MTPA operation mode, the frequency converter starts running with the internal mixer, and it runs normally after feeding and loading. Check the no-load current, which is more than 90% smaller than the no-load current of a normal asynchronous motor, which can truly save energy.

STEPME800 series frequency converters are widely used in the rubber industry. I have the honor to debug several high-voltage frequency converters dedicated to ME800 internal mixers. It is a great honor to make practical contributions to national energy conservation and emission reduction.

During the Spring Festival, rush to Tangshan within 26 hours 

The Spring Festival is a festival for family reunion and national celebration. This Spring Festival in 2019 is especially special. On the first day of the new year, at 7:00 p.m. that day, I received an emergency call from a rubber refining factory in Tangshan, Hebei. The customer reported that the high-voltage inverter used on site could not be used normally after being shut down for maintenance. Since the on-site technicians have gone home for the New Year, it is urgent for STEP to send professional technicians to the site to help solve the fault and resume production urgently.

During the Chinese New Year, there are basically no people in all departments of STEP to go to work, and it is necessary to find coordination with multiple departments to collect emergency spare parts from the company. The customer-centric concept that the company usually advocates played a huge role at this time. After emergency contact by the department leaders, the production, warehouse, logistics and other departments sent personnel to the company as soon as possible. got spare parts.


At this time, because the air tickets were sold out, after several twists and turns, I finally snatched a high-speed train ticket from Shanghai to Tangshan on the early morning of the second day of the Lunar New Year. On the afternoon of the second day of the new year, I finally arrived in Tangshan. I rushed to the customer site as quickly as possible to find out the cause of the inverter failure. 

After inspection, it was found that the customer had mistakenly changed the control mode to VF mode when modifying the parameters; in fact, the motor on site is a permanent magnet synchronous motor, which needs to use MTPA (maximum torque current ratio) mode. After modifying the parameters, the frequency converter runs normally, and there is no fault in feeding and production.


On-site commissioning

The hour hand pointed to 9:00 p.m. on the second day of the new year, and it was only 26 hours before the customer reported for repair. Our timely and professional service was recognized by the customer. At the scene, I also conducted technical training for the factory personnel. The customer leader knew that the failure was not a hardware failure of the frequency converter, so he had more confidence in the quality and service of STEP products.

Everything is customer-centered and customer-oriented is the constant pursuit of STEP, and it is also an incentive for us to provide better services to customers.
